• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Hi: I’m Canadian and have a slip in Maple Bay on Vancouver Island. Looking for an aft cabin design with a bridge, not a pilot house. Ideally with a cockpit. The list below is for the perfect boat, so looking for one that ticks as many boxes as possible.
Prefer price to be under $100,000 USD
1) Aft cabin design
2) 38-42’ but some 36’-38’ can work with 13’9” beam but maybe able to go slightly wider.
3) Twin diesels, prefer: Perkins, Lehman, Cat, Cummins.
4) Not Volvo, Hinos, Detroit Diesels
5) Well maintained, no deferred maintenance.
Prefer a boat where previous owners have updated and taken of repairs, updated appliances (large fridge), and electronics-radios, radar, chart plotter, etc. Dripless shaft seal, good size tanks, updated electrical, heads, heat, etc.
6) Under 42’ max preferred but will look at slightly longer
7) Year- prefer newer than 1980 and Taiwanese after 82. All North American built are ideal. Less brightwork, the better!
8) No wood hull.
9) Cabin ceiling height higher than 6’3”
10) Hydraulic steering
11) New tanks-no steel fuel tanks
12) No teak decking price would reflect to remove
13) New windows
14) Dingy with good motor
15) Sea wise system
16) Diesel generator
17) Water maker
18) Walk thru transom door from the swim grid into the cockpit.
19) Full canvas for the bridge
20) Solar panels
21) Walk around Queen bed
22) Soft ice cream machine, of course!

I know of most on the market right now, so if you have something coming up let me know. I cannot respond to postings yet as I have not posted enough times on the forum. Thanks!

Go up 50% on final sale, be willing to wait a while and I think you can find it. A year ago, I would have said 100%.
Tough to fit all that into a 40 footer and still be able to service it easily.

First off, I am not following the boat market, so am really of little help. :)
But some comments:
I am unclear about your wants of aft cabin with a walk thru transom into a cockpit in a 42 foot boat. All boats I have seen with an aft cabin in this size only have a swim grid (usually needing a few steps down to it) with a small, narrow "back deck", not really a "cockpit". EG. Grand Banks, Monk 36, etc.
Also, I did not see a boat in this size range that allowed decent access to the outboard sides of twin engines (some even had poor access everywhere in the ER). Engine Room space was very, very limited with twins in this size range (at least in my experience).
Other than that, I like your list. Personally I would go for a pilothouse and forgo a flybridge here in BC but that is personal preference. I like the ice cream maker :)
Good luck, take your time, and look around a lot.

Entry from the swimstep via steps on an aft cabin sundeck boat does exist, but it`s in Australia in a Riviera 40. I think only 20+ of these were built. There was one on our previous marina, a very nice boat, which sold immediately it was offered for sale.

Kinda did some cross referencing. There are very few boats that could meet most of your requirements and there will be compromises. All are 40 and over and all are cockpit motor yachts, not trawler types.
They meet the aft cabin/cockpit, 42' but probably greater length overall, and beams of less than 14'
Californian 43CPMY
Carver 390/400/430 CPMY's
Hatteras 42 CPMY
Tollycraft 43CPMY

That's about it out there old enough to be close to your price range.

Thanks to all

Appreciate your thoughts and sharing the information. I responded individually to each, not sure if it worked, as just learning the ways of the forum.

Uniflyte 42.

That is a good recommendation Keith. Just avoid any with the DD 8.2.
Also, the Tollys offer several interesting choices, especially the 43 and 44 both with cockpits and aft cabins.

My 1983 Trawler posted on forums checks a lot of these boxes. But has twin Volvo that sip fuel. Check it out.

i have seen your boat ads. What model of Volvo's and what is the year, please? Do you have a list of everything done to the boat? Thanks!
