With a boat loading to move a boat 800 miles what is a reasonable NM/Gal number for the 34 LRC with the 3208 Cats. Assume starting with full fuel and water and cruising at max allowable continuous rpm for that engine. I have seen the chart for the Perkins and have have seen numbers that are 1plus NM per gal used. Real world experience would be appreciated. Thanks

i think there are many opinions on what might be considered a max allowable power setting.
there is a world of difference between 1500 rpm and 2500 rpm in fuel burn/economy.

I agree, but with 800 NM to go I would like to get on plane and go. Will 2400rpm on twin 3208s do that in a 34lrc? thanks

i dont think you will get a full plane at 2400 but i dont know for sure.
mine is a 38' and my 3208 are TA @ 260HP, i am not planning @ 2400 rpm... probably going around 17kts.
fuel burn at 2400 is something like 8 gph/each engine.

per, that's not bad. 1nm per gal. Do have enough visibility to pilot from the lower helm?
