Mercruiser 454 7.4 Distributor Cap / Rotor

Hi there!

Maybe a long shot but I am looking for x2 Distributor Cap / Rotor for my Mercruiser 454 7.4. I have a 1986 Sea Ray Sedan Bridge and am looking for a parts # for these engines to purchase the distributor cap / rotors.

Looked inside the engine bay but couldn't find any product #s so if anyone knows, can you tell me what the part # is or how I can find it? In the mean time I will be using the search function until I find the right answer. Happy Monday! Thanks forum members

A 1986 Mercruiser 454 inboard should be the 340 MIE. Perfprotech has the full parts catalog for them here: https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury... GM 454 V-8 1981-1987/5889914-thru-0b788365

That should be enough to find the Merc part number for anything you need (and you can find aftermarket cross references once you have the Merc number).

If you've got any other questions about those engines, ask away. I've got a pair of them in my boat, so I'm pretty familiar.

Pretty sure I've used that exact kit before. Unless it's been changed you do have Thunderbolt IV ignitions.

Last question for today. Do you have a preferred brand for the oil filters? The part number is worn off so I cannot find the correct part number.

I've been using the Wix 51086 on mine with good results. Any decent filter that fits will do the job.
