You need two people to lock through Chambly locks. I was hoping for an exemption but they said no. Is there anyone that would like to join me I want to go through in the next two days. I will be glad to compensate a helper. Thanks

Dang, I wish I had the time.

I read a story somewhere that someone had the same predicament and the lock operator gave them the number of a local that was willing to help.

It looks like the wind will hold me up at Gaines Marina until Friday. It looks like I wont head into Canada until then. It looks like I will need a helper over the weekend now. The lock master must have a list of people. I agree with CharliO I can't be the only solo operator that wants to go through.

Maybe it's a Quebec regulation. I just finished the Rideau up and down, and the Trent Severn the whole way, solo.

Greetings,
Mr. OC. You're done the Trent already? Wow. You must have flown. Did you spend any time in Georgian Bay?

I went through Lake Champlain. I am currently at Gaines Marina Rouses Point. I am hunkered down due to high winds and an angry lake.

A change of plans to meet up with my wife, has me getting into Lake Superior sooner. Spent 11 nights on the Trent Severn and would like to have had a little more between Orillia and the Port Severn to explore the less developed areas. Georgian Bay was unavoidably passed on (hopefully to be explored in the future). Will spend some time in the North Channel before crossing into Superior.

My Burlington visit was nice. My wife drove up for the weekend. We ate our way through. The lake was a washing machine both Saturday and Sunday with winds near 30. Monday was calm so I went and anchored at Valcour Island. I woke up yesterday to a south wind that continued to build.

Yes, we decided to not leave the marina over the weekend. My brother in law who was farther north on the lake didn’t take his boat out much for the fishing derby due to conditions on the lake. We had a fun time fishing right off the boat at the dock.

Might be worth contacting the marina at the southern end of the canal for a lead on a deckhand. https://lenautique.com/marina-saint-jean-sur-richelieu/

:thumb:Good news. I have found someone to lock through with me. He is an AGLCA Harbor Host.
