Hi all, just joined the forum. I am looking at buying a 26' Tollycraft 1973 for pretty low $$ I already know what is needed work wise, install a sewage system holding tank etc, bottom wash and paint, some hull fittings, get the trim tabs working, add a battery for stating only, its a 318 V8 single screw. Anyways I live on the Westcoast all my life and want to explore the Gulf Islands, in my 60's so plunge I will take. I will keep a record of what's done and post here when I can with pics etc - should be an adventure in more ways than one !!

Tollys are excellent boats, congrats. Exploring the Gulf and Orcas islands, Sunshine Coast and further up Island is incredible cruising. We spent years doing that before moving to Florida. Enjoy!

Tough to beat a Tolly for a PNW boat. Well made and very seaworthy, You will enjoy it.

You will love the speed. While others in slower trawlers and sailboats are taking forever to get the Gulph Islands from Vancouver, you will be at Porlier pass probably within an hour and a bit and be at your desired anchorage within two hours and a bit.
My boat is in Comox and the most boring boating for me is the run roughly from the marina to roughly Powell River before I hang a left to go to Desolation Sound, ditto heading back. Once I hit the Powell River area heading towards Lund I slow down and smell the roses.
If I were in Vancouver, used to live in Deep Cove, I get bored quickly of the run from Vancouver to the Gulf Island along the Strait. Nice to get the boring bits over quickly then slow down.

We just bought ourselves a 34' sedan to enjoy the islands. Our cruise north from Poulsbo to it's new home was awesome. Hoping we have many more just like it.... well, except I want to see a whale now and then.
