I live natural looking wood, and Mexico is the home to a very beautiful wood name Parota.

Here is the new salon table I just got installed.

Looks great!

Love it! Thats gorgeous

Nicely done!

I'm jealous as hell Kevin. I'm in Costa Rica and can't find decent tequila. Stuff I bought is swill and cost $40.

Oh....table looks really nice too.

Very nice tree slab indeed. Looks mondo strong and heavy.

Peter - you just departed the land of excellent (and inexpensive) Tequila, should have stocked up - :)

Oh contrare.....Weebles is stored on the hard in Chiapas MX. We'll return in October. I certainly know what I need to bring with me.....

Kevin - table really looks great in your boat. Nice addition.

Beautiful. Most impressive!

Kevin,

I am an old carpenter living in Mexico, San Carlos. And the first photo looks like Caoba (A sort of Brazilian Mahogany) the others are Parota as is common in the Sonoran Desert. Very popular here in SC due to termite resistance. But I much prefer the Caoba.

Nice work.

Looks lovely and I believe it may be the same wood that our local carpenters call monkey wood. I'll attach a photo of the mill where we bought slabs for our home bar.

Updating my reply and apparently they are two different but very similar fast growing (ie sustainable) hardwood species (Parota and MonkeyWood). We got a slab and made a bar top out of it.
