Hello to all,
Well I've gone and bought a
Roughwater Boats, Trawlers, Ed Monk, Monk Design,Boats, Cruisers, Puget Sound, Diesel Trawlers, Trawlers, Roughwater
1974 35' Roughwater monk style Pilothouse. with a Ford Lehman 120. This is a big step for our family and we are looking forward to trips in and around us and eventually to Desolation Sound. We live in Black Creek near Pacific Playgrounds Marina. (between Comox & Campbell River) I'm new to boating on this scale and I've enrolled in the power squadron course starting later this month to keep the family safe. We are keeping the boat in the marina for the month of October and then we will get it hauled and put in our driveway so I can address some issues leaky windows that need re-bedding and teak that needs attention. My first couple of experiences with fellow boaters has been a great indication of how kind and helpful random people are that you meet on the dock. From a someone I just met giving me a fitting so I didn't have to go to the marina shop, to Alain B, who pulled up in his dingy to say hello, and ended up helping me change my oil and who I ended up asking to pay to accompany me on the trip from Cowichan Bay to Saratoga Beach. We did it in 2 beautifully calm days and Alain's 10 years Coast Guard experience and general boat knowledge was extremely valuable. I learned a ton of stuff over the 2 days and the highlight was passing through Dodd Narrows. I had many questions for Alain while cruising along at 6.5 knots and he had lots of answers and advise. I had a good chance to figure out most of the boat systems, but there were some things I didn't figure out. I know that I'm going to have likely lots of questions for some of you out there and I appreciate any assistance.
