Hi Everyone,

My name is Greg

I'm 42, married, with two kids living in Madison, CT (Long Island Sound/CT River).

I joined Trawler Forum to learn as much as I can about Trawler boats/life.

I've been boating in the CT river and Long Island Sound for several years (Center Console/Outboard) and we are looking to extend our boating experience to further destinations. Block Island, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket.

Trawlers appeal to me because of the layout, safety, experience, and the community.

I hope that my experience here will help me decide on a selection of boats (probably used) that suit my needs/wants, and that helps me start to look at boats in person. There are so many to choose from: Ranger, American, Nordic, GB, etc.

Thanks in advance for all your advice and information.

Best,

Greg

There is nothing inherently safer with a trawler than any other vessel.

They look salty...but looks aren't everything.

Welcome aboard. Yes, I think you will enjoy a more substantial vessel over a center console if your goal is to go and stay rather than to have return to the boat ramp by dusk.
