Folks, fired up genny today in slip and noticed the unit rpm was fluctuating periodically. Noticed DC voltage on gen control panel was between 12-14, moving.

Saw an inverter over voltage fault. Noticed generator was outputting 147-150 vac.

131 hours on generator. Will call northern lights Monday, but thought I’d ask. I’m suspecting a voltage regulator and hope I’m still under warranty [emoji851]

Had that happen on my NL 5kw at about 5000hrs. A lead broke off the voltage regulator. Probably from vibes in the control box. Fixed the lead, all was well.

Look in the box for anything amiss. AVR's can simply fail. Try sweeping the AVR volt adjust pot.

Thanks. Will remove cover and check connections.

Update- found a crimped wire off, ( power to AVR) and one bad crimp;burnt. Re-crimped both and all good now. Both wires were inside the control box.

RPM adjust frequency,. The regulator adjust voltage.
