Wow a ducted propeller!

What are you having done?
Main things are bottom job, replace timber rub rails (and leave the s/s flatbar off this time ) remove windlass and replace 8 x 4 sheet of 18mm ply under (and get additional 12 sheets onboard for the rest) try and get the gearbox leak fixed and new chain.

Plus about 100 other smaller jobs.

Inside the belly of the beast. Twin disc 516.

Had an oil leak , about 2 litres a year from a 35 litre sump.

Had a retired ex twin disc guy check it over and he reckons its coming from top plate and filler cap.
Filler cap was very loose, new o ring and now its tight.
Took top plate off and no gasket, but evidence of some sealant that's long gone.

He feels confident that'll be it.
Fingers crossed

And the shitfight continues.
Supposed to be going in tonight, sparky with earth plate turns up this morning, two days late, drops it off to me to fit, will be back down later to check current when boat is in.

Bloody bolts are 2 inches long
Hull planks are 2 inches thick
Silicon bronze bolts on short notice are rare as rocking horse ****
Couldn't even get a pair machined in time.
Half a day running around like an idiot while trying to organise last minute jobs and ended up having to airfreight 2 in effectively costing me $100/ bolt. (Extra night hardstand, airfreight for a $4 bolt)
Then, to top the day off my wife's mother passed away. (Long illness, was expected)

Hopefully they will arrive in time for tomorrow afternoons slot.
Then shitfight 2 begins.

Seems to always play out like that. No matter how much planning is undertaken, something always throws things out resulting in the mad dash at in the last few hours. Condolences on the passing of your mother-in-law.

Hope everything works out for you tomorrow.

Sucks about the last minute bolt issue.

Condolences for the passing of your mother-in-law.

Sorry for your mother in law, wish you the best.

L

Thanks guys

Mostly all done, we are next in line so should be floating in an hour or so.
Thank f for that.

Several hours later, in, quick run up the river to make sure all feels ok and anchored for the evening.
No more sandblasting, saws, welders, trucks, toxic fumes.
Relative bliss
