Pearson 43 - Interesting boat

Came across a 43 Pearson - 1985 vintage.
I like some of the features that this boat offers but as in all things there are some compromises that are made by altering the basic form and function of a "trawler'. So, if there are any P43 owners past or present please take a moment and leet me know what your experience has been, good or not so good.

There's a lot to like in that boat especially the single level layout. An important feature for those of us with reduced mobility.

My thoughts as well Craig. Us old guys dont like bunches of steps. Heard the ER is a stand up as well. We will take a closer look next week.

The engine room appears to be under the aft deck hatches so unlimited head room as the sky is literally the limit. Most likely a v-drive arrangement, nothing wrong with that if looked after like anything else IMO. The pictures showed reasonable access to the engines and generator.

I have actually been on this boat . He was in our marina this past summer . He was having some engine trouble . I don't remember what it was but he had to cut his trip short .I don't think it was to serious but he was ready to deal on price .

If I remember these boats were sold complete , or partially complete at that time.

Some were very unique 120v DC systems , and other home brew delights.

Thanks Mule, good to know. Sounds like a engine survey may be in the cards if we get that far.
It is a V drive of which mI know nothing, except more things to worry about. We did a walk around yesterday but did not board her. For an 85 she was very clean and we saw no obvious issues on the outside.
Got to go to Cincin ( Bengals suck) VA for a cutting session on Monday so I may be off line for a couple of days. Keep the info coming. Not much on the WWW that I could find. Looks like Pearson built lots and lots of SB's and not so many PB's. I know they were one of the early GLASS fabricators, aka Bristol and it was a brick.

No we did no t buy her. The buyer was nice but the boat was over priced for the condition, IMO. So we are still looking. Like the design and livability.

Just Bought an '85 Pearson 43 Motor Yacht

I own a 1985 43 Pearson motor yacht. Did you buy the one you were considering? I'm looking for someone who owns one also. It's pretty lonely out here, not many of them built.

Hi. I just bought an '85 Pearson Motor Yacht this month. She's currently having the hull paint striped and re-gel coated. I'm glad we did this as there were a few dry blisters that needed attention. And the #2 engine is being rebuilt because it threw a rod during sea trials; punched a shoe box size hole through the engine block. Good times!

I'm 5'10' so I am thankful for the plentiful head room throughout her. The Eng Rm is spacious for having two Perkins and a Gen. The Pump Rm is unbelievably roomy. I'm tempted to build in food stores shelves down there.

And I am truly blessed by the fact that the previous tenant of 2 1/2 years was a world-renown yachtsman, designer and builder. He took amazing care of her while he had her. We are indeed fortunate, and meeting him was like getting with an old friend from the get-go.

Anyway, thus begins the adventure.

Do you still have the pearson 43? I was told it was bad on the water and not to go into the ocean, did you do this and I think since it has a flat bottom, it rides a little rough. but told its dangerous, did you have any problems with wind or high seas.
