Well,* Without the mountains, waterfalls, and rainforests perhaps the East Coast Vistas are lacking.

The Canyons of the Hudson

Block Island looming in the distance

The Cliffs of NewPort and Marthas Vineyard.

A tropical lagoon in Florida.

The rugged Maine Coast.

The 1000 Islands.

Come on lets post some pics.

Sleepless in New Jersey.* JohnP

You mentioned the 1000 islands... can we include Lake Ontario? *At Sunset Bay Marina where we keep our trawler, there is a small anchoring area just up from our dock.

I was hoping for this thread as I'm familiar w the west coast so even dull pics of the east coast will be an adventure for me. The Hudson river, the islands sea wise from the ICW, New England, Texas coast, Ohio River ect ect. Love this lighthouse. We have nothing like this on the west.

C Chuck,

Those are great. The ball's rolling now. I'm guessing without mountains close up pics would prolly work better. OK when we get 100 pics up here we'll vote on'em. Looks like Chuck's the winner so far. OK we'll never get 100 pics so how-about 100 anchors ha ha.

Okay,* It may take a while, but hopefully those (confined) to the East Coast will take

********** landscape (seascape) photography more seriously in 2011.

***********As folks start to cruise around they can post their pics here.

********** Granted without the towering peaks in the background getting dramatic
*
***********shots will be a little harder.

***********Maybe what we lack in natural beauty we can make up in historical places.

These were all taken from the back deck of my house on Stoney Creek in MD.* I was playing around with a spiffy new pocket camera I received as a gift.* Some of the shots were taken at the max zoom so they might look a bit grainy. But the power packed into the little digital cameras is simply amazing.* And, hey, the view out my back door doesn't suck either.

For you folks that don't know the area, it's sometimes called the Redneck Riviera.* Or, The 'Dena.* Or, in less flattering terms, the armpit of Anne Arundel County.

In case you were wondering, I'm walking the hound early every morning and catch a lot of sunrises.

Thanks Old Stone. I thinkl you are talking about a few pictures I took in the Boothbay, ME area.

Daddyo,
that "pirate ship sunset" picture is simply awesome- great shot.

How's the defever coming along?

Thanks, as to the Defever I was just down there Tuesday to get my head around the scope of the project. Lot's of nice little surprises the more I looked around.

Daddyo, can't wait to see pix of the Defever... I went back to Yachtworld to look again but the boat was already gone from the listing..

Right you are, Charlie.* It is a great anchorage.* There are so many good anchorages on the Chesapeake Bay that there should probably be a whole thread on those.

Here is one that is not an east coast anchorage in the strictest sense.* However it is not on the west coast of the US.* It is where we were anchored the last four nights.* The south end of the Boca Grand Canal.

John, didn't see who was on the Fleming, so couldn't rule out Marin.* There was another docked around the corner at Boca Grande Marina.* Could it be that Flemings are a dime a dozen in South Florida?

However, it is good to be South this time of year.* There are good times to boat most everywhere.* We plan to move Moonstruck north to the chesapeake Bay in the spring.* Fall on the Chesapeake is a magical time.
