Raymarine e120 backlight problem & fix

Watched a couple of videos on how to DIY. I think I can handle it, and I am in possession of a free unit. But there are 2 schools of repair, using LEDs and original CFLs.
CFLs are what fails, and the LED proponents have their points. But for anyone who went to LEDs is the screen backlight better/worse etc?

I got the LED’s. Don’t know which are better. Seems to me that the LED’s are brighter.
