I have Cummins MerCruiser Diesel Engine monitors in my Flybridge helm that are very sun damaged and difficult to read. In the pilot house I have SMX ED-X Marine Diesel Displays. Both appear and function the same. I saw on ebay that there is a company that refurbishes the Fly Bridge monitors. Has anyone had any experience doing this. Somewhere I heard that if I refurbish the original monitors, they do not have to be "calibrated/mated" to the engines when they are replaced. However, if I exchanged the monitors (as a core) for rebuilt/refurbished monitors, the monitors would need to be recalibrated/mated to the engines. The turn around time difference is significant.

I cannot help with the actual work.

Only suggest that you contact Tony Athens shop , Seaboard Marine. He is also aboard this forum from time to time but better by far is contact his shop.

My 4 Yanmar displays had big black spots and Carlos at Quikfkip Enterprise fixed them all over the years as they slowly got bad. You could see if they'll do your engine displays. They're at 305 331-4980. I have no connection to them.

It is possible to convert J1939 to NMEA 2000, so is using NMEA 2000 displays a possibility?

I had my Yamaha gauges that were working re done by gauge saver in Florida . The displays had to be working. looked like new 2 years now and no problems.
