I have a 2002 34' Pilot Mainship. All the glass installed is using sealant with no frame work holding it in place. The windshield, side and aft bulkhead glass is installed this way. The boat is now 22 years old. There are no leaks and the glass appears to be held in place and not compromised. The sealant is faded and has a few areas that show aging. I know the best way to reseal the glass would be to remove the glass clean the sealing area and reset the glass. That seems like a lot of work when there is no leak issues. My goal is to cosmetically repair. I would like to clean the sealant and run a fresh bead over the top of the existing sealant. My question is does anyone know if Mainship used SikaFlex products? From what I have read Sikaflex will bond to old Sikaflex if it is cleaned. Silicones will not. Has anyone run a bead of Sikaflex over existing old Sikaflex with a good result?
