Friend looking at a purchase got oil analysis back with servere aluminum. How to interpret.?

Bearings? Piston scuffing?
In any event it is probably significant and expensive

How about posting the full analysis as a pdf attachment. There are related metals that might help explain how and why the high aluminum is occurring.

Severe anything is a walk away .
Or deduct the price of a new motor fitted and make that you offer to purchase

Post the actual report. As DM pointed out there are other factors. It may be a walk away but without more REAL info you may kiss a good deal off.
Seen this lots of times , poor inadequate info equals poor decisions.
