SS AC strainer 2 weeks old - Rusted???

'Lo All, It looks to me that the welds are what corroded The handle/bail is fine as is the screen away from the welds.

'Lo All Again, The passivating solution for SS is nitric acid. The % concentration can vary - it will just take longer with a lower concentration. The nitric acid removes free iron ions.
