Swift Trawler 44 - Forward fuel tank leaking diesel

Had this same problem with our 2012 ST 44. The leak was on the port tank crossover valve. I ran the tank to near empty and the dealer pumped out the remaining fuel and then fixed it, under warranty. I believe that it was simply an incomplete weld. Lucky that it was on port tank as that valve is easy to access. Starboard side would have been really difficult.

IMO. I would transfer or drain the fuel. and do a temp repair to stop the fuel leak. Versachem 90180 Heavy-Duty Fuel Tank Repair Kit - 30 Grams is a good fuel tank repair for small leaks. Also, jumping on the barge wagon here.... Submit a warranty claim.

Can the top of the tank be exposed without so much radical interior disassembly?

If so, perhaps cut top off and remove baffels....leaving entire tank carcass as a shell....then install a synthetic bladder tank within shell..... or, have two (or more) smaller, complete metal tanks made....a size combination allowing handling thru interior to location.. ...plumbed/valved much as you would an aux tank

I am curious to know how things worked out for the OP. any update on how the problem with the leaking fuel tank was resolved. From reading posts on another forum from some one in england with a similar leak in the starboard tank, the tanks were removed and replaced. Access was gained by removing the couch and captains seat cabinet. Removal of all the pumps and the black water tank. cutting the floor to the starboard side and then removing first the port tank, then starboard tank.

this sounds pricey and i am curious to know if Beneteau took care of it. The other case turned out to be a bad weld and the owner was able to get some coverage from his insurance.
