Switch for under counter lighting

I am installing under counter lighting in the galley. I have tried a Google search to find a low profile, flush mount switch (12 VDC) to mount under the counter and cannot find a suitable solution. I will go to Home Depot today to look around but don’t expect to find what I want. Does anyone has any solutions to suggest?

Edit: Try an LED supplier. With all the LEDs out there you’d think there would a bunch of stand-a-lone low voltage/amp switches for the hobbiest.

I used surface mounted toggle switches mounted on the interior. There out of sight and you will quickly get used to the location once you open a door to turn the lights on.
I don’t know if your plans call for mounting the LED strips on a heat sink, I used small aluminum square channel. The LED’s put out a fair amount of heat and the diodes need protection.

I've used these for stuff on my boat. Got them from eBay though. You can also get them without the indicator light.

Thanks people. I’ve looked but I can’t find any flush mount switches on the Bluesea site. The units I intend to install have switches similar to the Aspentech 2835 units. I would like to wire them so that all of the lights turn on with a single switch.

...discounted at $19.95 Cdn. They are flush mount lights,12 VDC and LEDs are mounted on an aluminum plate. I re&re’d the Alpenglow galley light with two of them and they put out a combined 325 lumens each and do not cause any VHF interference.

In the interim, I’ve picked an inexpensive cord switch that I can flush mount. It’s not ideal but will be ok for now.

These are the units being tested in position. I will wire them into the house bank.

I used a long neck toggle mounted in the space between 2 drawers over the sink.....so the toggle protruded through the cabinet bottoms over the sink and easy to find by feel.

Martin: That’s better. That looks like an option.

I roughed in the lighting yesterday and just need to put some loom around the wires and strap them up. For now I have a rocker switch installed but it is not ideal.

I had a 12VDC (I think) switch installed in my Kitchen that was super low profile and might be of interest. It is an "eye" flush mounted about 1/4 in diameter. Essentially you wave your hand in front of it for on or off and even allows dimming by holding your hand steady in front of it. I hate switches and this is about as low profile as I have ebver seen. let me know if you want me to find the manufacturer.

If you know what you are looking for (12V SPST switch in this case), the biggest problem is usually culling down all the possible choices. Also both are good sources for replacement electronic components if you can find a part number on the side of the case of your defective part.



Last time I used them, neither had a minimum order requirement.

How about a remote control switch? Check Amazon - "remote control light switch". You can hide the switch box and just use the remote.
