Travels of "Emma B" (JD powered Helmsman)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

It was a beautiful morning for my last run of this season. The trip around to Cambell River was very pretty with the clear sky’s displaying all the snow capped mountains. Tide was “with” as I rounded Cape Mudge on the bottom of Quadra Island for the last few miles up to the marina. Sort of a sad run knowing I’d be prepping for haul out and storage. It’s been quite the cruise this year though. Many new anchorages for me both in the Gulf Islands and up north. Lots of whale sightings and the scenery has been spectacular. Makes those cool, rainy days and windy nights worth it.

Thanks for taking us along!

Wonderful time you had and great pics to share w us.

Anchorage guide per your trip?

Not recommending you become a publisher ... just on this thread when you get time.

Thanks for taking us along on another epic cruise Frank. I
This year was especially poignant as we have been confined south of the border.

You have achieved the unimaginable......... I am looking forward to the end of the 2021 boating season! Emma B will emerge from storage and take me on her next cruise!

Thank you Frank!

Bill

Thanks for the comments lads....
I’m often concerned that I post too many pictures...
So glad some enjoy them.
Look forward to next year and meeting more of you!??

Frank
Thank you so much!
In season, there are several contributors who can brighten our days with their travelogues and lots of pictures.
In the off season, there are no others. Only you! We cherish the few posts that you make. We love the photos. Those of us who go to the same places in the summer wonder at the beauty in the winter and wish we were there.
Those of us who haven't been there wonder at the beauty of our coast and wish they could sail here.
You give us all the incentive to keep our boats up and go again to the most beautiful places on the planet.
Enjoy your off season and please, please come back next fall for another great cruise.

Thank you so much! Your posts have been like a gift in previous seasons -- and even more so this year. :flowers:

No way are there too many photos! But then too, I really enjoy your descriptions. It's the perfect balance of both.

Also, as a smaller boat person, it's fun for me to know you are doing it in a 28-footer (but I would enjoy it no matter the boat).

Frosty

(Already looking forward to seeing your Shark canal cruiser conversion again, if you post about it.)

Thanks again for taking us along. Excellent photos and narratives, just right. Two more winters we will enjoy your cruising, then on to do some ourselves...

See you next fall.

Thanks again for the positive comments lads.

Been prepping to haul out and thinking what a boat friendly place Cambell River is. So many places are right here, just walking distance from your boat. Be it food stores, restaurants, a chandlery, liquor, clothing, or electronics stores.. right here. A Canadian Tire store is across the lot as is a TD bank. The fuel dock prices are excellent as well.Theres an abundance of marine services available too.
Views from the dock aren’t bad either

“Ya know the season is over when.....”

One of the many benefits of a smaller trawler..
Easy to move around and easily stored inside.

That is one very good looking Camano 31. Love the stainless on the bow.
Well done.
Just realized it is a Helmsman Camano 31.

I agree w you.
Could see Willy that color.

Now I see it’s got curved corner PH windows like a Willard 36.
The red bootstripe plays no small part in the programe either.

A bit more clean up, new zincs, bottom paint touch up and tucked away until??
I do love inside storage. It looks exactly the same when you return.

Frank, you just have this thing dialed in. From choice of vessels, to both of your cruising grounds, to the whole way you go about it. What a pro!
Bravo!

Thanks
Really am missing the Abacos this year and all the friendships made there over the years, but travel is so complicated with covid..
Next winter hopefully!
It sure is beautiful up the coast here late season tho!

Covid has certainly given folks a new perspective on many things. The pandemic has forced most of us to slow down and spend more time alone or within our small circle of close friends. With that slow down came more time to reflect on what’s truly important to us.
After much reflection, I have listed Emma B for sale.
I truly love the boat and have been so appreciative of both the build quality from the factory and support received from Scott! If she sells, a new Emma B will be ordered and yes, it will be a Helmsman from Scott only this time a 38.
If, for whatever reason she doesn’t sell, I’ll look forward to continued adventure and explorations aboard her. As I said, I truly do love the boat. She was spend for the long haul....

Gotta love auto correct...
“Spec’d for the long haul”

Made it home to NE Ontario. Had to borrow a front end loader to get in.
The PNW may not be the Bahamas in winter, but it’s way warmer than home!
Was -21 cel on the late drive home last night. This was plowing in today...
Warmer weather IS coming very soon.

Did you pull the listing or have an offer on it. I don't see the Emma B on YW any more.

The listing was posted prematurely..
Still sorting details on the new build...

A downeast friend shared this. The cape boats are so distinctive. Love the colours with the white winter backdrop. Beautiful.

Beautiful Frank - thanks for sharing!

Been following your adventures for some time and just wanted to say Thanks! It's so nice to be "virtually" there with during your travels. And...looks like a beautiful, cozy home on return.

Looking forward to following along with the 38 as it comes together.

Good luck with the sale! I'm sure she'll go quickly. :thumb:
