2005 Hampton 558
Hi all, I have a 2005 Hampton 558. The motor that lifts the TV up and down is starting to show signs of aging I think. When it goes up it goes up a little bit stops I need to push the button to start it again and then it goes up a little bit and stops and then I repeat. Coming down it goes down a few inches stops and then I need to push the down button again, and repeat that step a bunch of times. It used to go up and down smoothly. Now with all the fits and starts the motor is getting so hot I can barely touch it which makes me think it's on life support. I've included a picture but does anybody have any recommendations for replacement motors or workarounds?

Interesting motor. Is that what those generally look like? I would have thought they used linear actuators for tv lifts. Does that gear move a rack that lifts it? Are there any other guides or bearings that might be gummed up?

Thanks. There are gears at each end that raise tracks on both sides. I've looked and cannot see anything that's interfering. I vacuumed everything and even though it looked unnecessary, I put a little silicone spray lube on the guides. Again, very quickly the motor gets too hot to hold on to.

I would check for local motor rebuilders. I have an engine hatch lift that is getting weak. Found a shop about 15 miles away that says they can rebuild the motor. I am going to take it out this winter and see what they say.

Is there a manufacturer label?
Is there any manual in the boats documents?

I looked at a ton of tv lift pictures and didn’t see a single motor like that one. I’m also wondering about the mechanism itself. If there’s a rack at each end, there must be a shaft with gears on each end, and this motor and gear turn that shaft. Is that close?
Is this a 12 volt lift, or 120 volt?

There is a motor rebuild shop here in JAX. 110 or 12volt. good guy, capable and reasonable.
