Why not just use a windless relay? They must be IP66 or 67 rated. Less wiring to keep it simple. You must have two of these old relays in use right now. The one in question and one for the other direction.
The larger post in the link, two wires from the battery. and 2 more to the motor. The 3 small ones, one common, and one for UP and the other for DOWN.
