NOVEL CORONAVIRUS – COVID 19 UPDATES
March 22, 2020
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (Parks), Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced the closure of all state campgrounds across Washington to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Campgrounds will remain closed through April 30.

Anyone planning on staying at the State Parks docks should be prepared to stay away. Could still anchor out. We are anchored out at Prevost right now with two other boats and there are two boats at Reid Harbor at the dock.

Wow...

State parks in California are closed for camping, but trails and beaches can be used.

We just left Prevost around 1030 this morning. We were the Hatteras. Which boat were you?

The Canadian province of Nova Scotia closed its provincial and municipal parks and limited groups of people to 5, who should remain 6' apart.

Anyone who doesn't comply can be fined $1,000.00 per incident, and businesses can be fined $7,500.00 with that amount growing with each infraction.

They tried asking people, but many were still playing team sports outside and I guess some businesses were still packing people in.

I think it is a good thing. I saw far too many posts this weekend from social media where people were at both marine and non-marine parks in droves, which I get with the good weather, but I don't get if you're actually practicing social distancing.

I went to an anchorage with only a few other boats, never went ashore, and disconnected from all electronic junk for a couple of days, which was important to stay sane after being at home for 3+ weeks. Not having parks will suck for some people who need that outlet, but it seems like the only choice because of a few bad choices...

We saw your beautiful boat. We were the Defever with the small boat tied along side anchored out on the east shore. Darn it!!

NY has made their parks free to encourage hiking, etc. (which can easily be done with minimal human contact). Gives people something to do, at least.

Just ordered ours. Just laid out a float plan for maybe 7 days, maybe 20 days in the San Juans. We’re a week+ away from finishing off season mechanical stuff and I have a long list projects that can be done at anchor. See y’all on the water!

Been flying it since last spring. So here is what the signs at the state park in Prevost Harbor say today:

Day use only. No overnight moorage (on the dock). Day use only. Ok to moore overnight on park buoys. No camping.

So we are still able to go ashore to walk the dogs or take a hike.

The dock is empty tonight.

As of Sunday all Washington county parks are now closed.
