Thanks. I will be installing the EWAY license plate camera on the stern.:)

I installed one with Bluetooth and a tiny built-in solar panel. It works great. However, it only “broadcasts” for 90-seconds max :(

On passage like to scan 360 and occasionally look at the sky. For a peebreak or grab a snack or drink just a mirror of the MFD on a phone or tablet has served.
Every boat and person is different but wonder if down the road you’d be happy with one fixed camera looking forward.
Sure we’d all love a FLIR system and multiple cameras that could track at our direction but that’s a budget buster. Still just wondering while on passage what’s the utility of a single camera looking forward. Isn’t AIS and radar sufficient once sufficiently offshore and away from shipping lanes. Add in stepping outside and glancing around to get a real 360.

several things.

I think the FLIR is a bit over rated. Have one and its utility has been pretty limited. It has proved not useful for spotting debris and rain pretty much shuts it down.

Network security cameras are down to $150 a piece and theres free software.

I agree with the forward looking camera not having a ton of value. I've got 7 cameras aboard and do not have a forward facing one. Cockpit has been super useful for monitoring people aboard and engine room has been really valuable.

Thanks for getting something on the wishlist. Interesting to hear the hype doesn’t match the reality. Nothing is like a good set of eyes.
