Went to the Palm Beach Boat Show

Yep, went down to Palm Beach today. Fought off the urge to buy one of the behemoth yachts on display. Lots of bling.

Went over on the island to check out Networth Ave. errr Worth Ave. The Rodeo Drive of the East. Rolls, Bentleys, Astons, Ferraris, Porsches-----they all seem so ordinary over there.

Just another 80 degree day in the Florida sunshine. Ate lunch and checked out Sunset Harbor Marina in Stuart. Then N. Palm Beach Marina. Always looking at places for a seasonal stay.

Back to work and the real world on Monday.

Not a one. Did hang for awhile on a Fairlane 50 something cruiser. Even that one didn't have enough leg room at the helm.

The North end was stuffed full of 80+ footers, 4-5 stories tall.

We also attended the PB Boat Show. We went by boat using the city docks inside the show. On the way we passed one of the boats that did not make the show.
Polar Star is in refit at the Rybovich dry dock north of the show.

On the subject of dry docks the Australia company, Fab Dock was showing their new system of dry docking. Drive your boat onto the deflated end of the system, inflate and pump out leaves the boat high and dry. These systems are custom fit to the boat unlike the one in the photo. They claim the cost can be recovered in less than five years on bottom paint, zinc anodes, etc.

Passage Maker magazine had some interesting speakers at TrawlerPort and the weather was great the entire weekend.

The upcoming Newport California big boat show is already solidly booked with potential buyers from China. Seems that new rule changes in the UK now makes the US the place to buy a mega yacht for the Chinese.

Ancora-that is kind of funny-with many boats being built in Mainland China now, they are coming to the US to buy a boat built in China and shipped to the US, then they have to ship it back to China!
