I am looking at a boat with twin 6LY2A-STP Yanmars.
The port side engine dip stick is easy to get to. The starboard side is way over on the far side of the engine under some decking. It looks like it would be very difficult to check oil.
Is is possible to get some kine of kit or something to move that dipstick to the other side so that it can be accessed more easily

Im assuming you are a twin...
There should be avdip stick on both sides of a 6LYA.
See.
Check them both once to compare results but use the most convenient one after that.
Unfortunately I've seen differing opinions as to which is more accurate.

On your starboard engine, look down low for a dipstick that comes out of the oil pan. On my 4 cyl Yanmar, it is short and hard to see until you find it, then its pretty easy to find.

I have twin 6LPA-STPs and share your exact same predicament. The shorter stick on the starboard engine is easy to access. They will not register the same. I would recommend filling the oil to the desired level based upon the longer conventional dipstick, then marking that level on the shorter dipstick for future reference. I have not found a good oil resistant marker. Etching a new line with a file was recommended by someone. I did do that, but it is very tough stuff and hard to file a clear line. I have read several accounts of mechanics recommending to owners that they not fill all of the way up on the long stick, at least for the 6LPA. Some have recommended filling to one quart less. I don’t know what is correct there.
