Season 2 of "Furuno Connections" is well underway, and if you haven't tuned in yet, it's time to get on board! If you've missed any of the action, be sure to catch up now by cruising over to our YouTube channel, where you'll find four virtually identical boats, each tricked out with the latest electronics packages from four major marine electronics manufacturers. We take each through a rigorous battery of tests performed by experienced captains and industry veterans, with plenty of on-the-water action in the beautiful Florida Keys!
So far this season, we’ve tested and compared everything from Multi-Function Display hardware, user interfaces, charts, plotting points, creating routes, and tracking weather. Then, we took a serious look at Solid-State Radar performance, evaluating key functions, such as target separation, short and long-range target detection, bird mode, ARPA, Radar overlay, and much more.
Along the way, we capture many candid conversations with our captains where they share their feedback, good and bad, on how Furuno stacks up against the competition. While the commentary from these longtime captains is invaluable, we ultimately want YOU to decide which electronics package is best for YOU and your customers. Since there’s no “Consumer Reports” for marine electronics, we’ve done our very best to level the playing field and present the most unbiased test possible, so you can be the final judge!
We've wrapped up our Radar testing, so now's the perfect time to catch up with “Connections”. Over the next several episodes, we'll take a deep dive into the fish finding capabilities found in each of these systems. We'll compare target definition, adjusting settings, demonstrate post-processing gain control capabilities, and most importantly, we'll show how well these units find fish. If you have customers serious about fishing, you'll want to make sure they tune in to see which MFD manufacturer performs best!
