Hi Mako,If that boat is powered by those big MAN diesels, now pushing 30 years old, then confirm you have access to a local mechanic and obtain some cost estimates for various major maintenance procedures which may be required, as well as the engine survey of course.
Hi,We had a 1987 President 41. It was a nice boat. We only sold it because we wanted a faster boat due to having to leave my mom at home and needed to be able to get home faster.
Window leaks and MAN engines.I am in the process of negotiating for a 1996 President 665. I'm am looking for any information regarding build quality, ride quality, etc. I thank you in advance.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking at one in Newport, Rhode Island.Window leaks and MAN engines.
Are you looking at the one in Galveston?
Probably the biggest issue was that the gel coat was too thick in places leading to stress cracks. I repaired them before we painted the boat. The stringers were fine.Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
Did you feel that the quality of the hull/stringers were comparable with US produced boats?
Thanks again,
Gregg
We had a 1989 President 41. Although built in Taiwan at the same facility as Ocean Alexander they do not have the same level of quality. Some of the deck fittings may be the same. The layup seemed to very sturdy but the hardware was difficult to find replacement parts. Portlights are no longer made and parts are tough to find. Be careful of deck leaks. Have the interior carefully checked as well as fuel and holding tanks. Replacing those can be a real pain. Good luck with it!I am in the process of negotiating for a 1996 President 665.
