If that boat is powered by those big MAN diesels, now pushing 30 years old, then confirm you have access to a local mechanic and obtain some cost estimates for various major maintenance procedures which may be required, as well as the engine survey of course.

We had a 1987 President 41. It was a nice boat. We only sold it because we wanted a faster boat due to having to leave my mom at home and needed to be able to get home faster.

Hi Gregg,
My Wife and I purchased a 1989 54ft President last December. She is a amazing boat. Handles bad weather amazing compared to our last boat. She has Cat 3208TA 375HP with are very efficient for a boat this size. As we understand they are built in Taiwan by the same people as Ocean Alexander. Most were built to customer specs and very few are the same. As I always say though it comes down to maintenance. If she is well taken care of she will be a amazing boat.
