    American Tug vs Helmsman

The wider salon versus walk around is a trade off. We have had zero issues backing in, as long as we know the width of the slip. We just drop the fenders and sight down the starboard side by looking out the helm SB door. The boat is pretty stable in its movements with a slight starboard turn in...

Hip, Goid summary on the NT. Thanks! They are super nice boats. Very well built, in my opinion.

    American Tug vs Helmsman

We looked at American Tug prior to building with Helmsman. I liked the American Tug, and the build quality appeared to be good. The people at the factory were great, and they took as much time as I needed to get my questions answered. Great company. I went with Helmsman and am glad I did. I...

    Another new start for Helmsman

This trip was the last part of the four part trip of the Mishy Jean to her home port. As the second party to the “switched at berth” with Doug and Patti, our boat came from Asia to Seattle, then over the road to Iuka Ms where she was commissioned, and on to Guntersville where she was berthed at...

    Another new start for Helmsman

We just made the second part of a 280 mile run up the Tennessee River to the home port. Before leaving we had the boat detailed. The detailer talked me into polishing the boat with a polymer, with the intent to protect the finish until this fall. He went over how to strip the polymer and apply...

    Helmsman Trawlers in the Wild

Heading out to complete a 280 mile trip up the Tennessee. That is my brother in law (probably looking for loose change!) :socool: No idea why the picture is sideways! :)

No we didnt. Our boat was in Mississippi and we used a recommended local couple who order and apply boat names and registration numbers. Paid them $300 if I remember correctly.

I will be back at the boat Friday afternoon if you don’t get the measurements by then. We will be taking her on a 140 mile trip up through the river system, and AIS should be able to get you some measurements when we stop over for the evening.

Congratulations you you both! I think the seven year itch should always be scratched with a new Helmsman!

Well, Tom, now I know why we had to weave through tornados and floods on our first trip in the Mishy Jean! :)

    Ready for a new refrigerator

HtT, in the 38e’s the house batteries are right behind the transmission in front of the shaft seal. I can get a picture to you when I am back at the boat, if that would help.

Starlink RV is now Starlink Roam

It might have to do with having the flat panel versus the RV receiver. I do see it in my account and have the flat panel.

Starlink RV is now Starlink Roam

https://support.starlink.com/?topic=f495d8c6-adb6-970d-e9fa-34fd21d32a5a This lays out the differences in data. Note the last point: Snip “Mobile Priority Data” is new. It’s the sweetest data yet. It has the same network precedence as “Priority Data,” but is the only data available on land, at...

    Unicorn Boat?

https://www.helmsmantrawlers.com/helmsman-trawlers/46-pilothouse/ I think Scott at Helmsman might entertain a slightly larger than 50 foot class A trawler. The 46 would get you close. They are building one now.

Starlink RV is now Starlink Roam

It is a real page. I saw it on the Starlink website today. I spent some time looking through the various pages on their website. I believe I understand it now. Starlink is confusing the issues. They are trying to mark out two different activities in their pricing. One is availability of...

    Another new start for Helmsman

Thanks! I don't have the capability (nor the desire) to put the dinghy up top. What I found when under way was the wake "climbs" just behind the swim platform, particularly at higher speeds. I plan to measure the height of the wake versus what the height of the dinghy would be if I use the...

    Another new start for Helmsman

Doug (and others), In post 1373, you mentioned you were going with swim step davits. Have you pick out what you plan to use? I am trying to figure out what will work best back there. It would seem it might be necessary to have the dinghy higher than I thought I would need to have it to keep it...
