I'm thinking of going the same route, but was wondering if the self leveling mast mounts are better? -Josh

This is my boat currently in the final stages. If I can find a good used take off, that would be best. A new one is PRICEY . Either way, I want to compare and see what's available. Thanks guys, Josh

    Polish, Chrome plate, or Replace?

Marty, Since buying the boat, I have made it a mission to doing things right the first time. I try to research, ask many questions, and price out everything in detail before coming to a decision. The hardest thing is parting out a piece of the boat that has held up for 34 years. I just got a...

    Polish, Chrome plate, or Replace?

Out of the 8 portlights, 2 of them leak, and 3 have cracked glass. Either way, they are coming out. As far as the other stuff (ie. cleats, deck plates, and some hinges), all has been removed already. Thanks for the input guys :) -Josh

    Polish, Chrome plate, or Replace?

Hey Everyone, In the end stages of my boat rehab and want some advice/opinions. I have a 1979 Pilothouse Trawler that has been brought up to a custom/current day look. All exterior teak is gone, decks are fiberglass non-skid, and interior is modernized. Now, I know some like the patina look on...

    Wanted: Davit Crane-Need asap

N4712, That davit crane is ridiculous...very nice. I'm locating the crane at the starboard corner of the overhang, similar to yours, but my deck thickness is only 2 inches and is only held up by 1.5 inch stainless tube brace. My fear is that the extension of the crane (7-9 ft) and the weight of...

Thanks Larry! Called Nick and got some great ideas/advice. Still keeping my eye open for a used one in good operating shape, but his davit crane definitely fits the bill. It's amazing how much stress a purchase/upgrade can do to a boater. I lose sleep over decisions like this  Thanks again...

    Wanted: Davit Crane-Need asap

Great points, I called multiple sources to get me the best info and recommendations for my crane location. Most said that with a standpipe and a reinforced mounting plate, I should be fine. My dingy only weighs 200lbs loaded so the weight being distributed is not at the crane's max limit. The...
