Wanted: Davit Crane-Need asap

I'm looking for a davit crane that can handle at least 800 lbs. It can be hydraulic or electric. Used or new. Please email or call me with what you have and it's price.

Might be OK for 800 lbs but not in heavy chop.

A tube mounts to the boat and you simply stick the crane tube in as needed.

Photo, It is in a 3ft? tube that is hard to see that is the mount.

Drop it in , plug it in , done.

Other base tubes would allow multiple uses, like bringing a heavy anchor aboard.

Thank you for the response, but the davit you have won't work with the application I'm trying to use it for.The davit needs to be able to reach past my swim step from my upper deck, at least 8 feet so the dingy doesn't hit the boat while hoisting. Again, thanks for the reply and sorry that I didn't mention this spec in the OP.

Shew. 800 lbs. and a 10 ft. reach......that's a lot of davit crane. An extendable electric/hydraulic seems to be what you are looking for. The amount of leverage 800 lbs. puts on a deck at that kind of distance is huge. You may need considerable deck reinforcement. Even shortening the requirement by a foot makes a big difference.

Great points, I called multiple sources to get me the best info and recommendations for my crane location. Most said that with a standpipe and a reinforced mounting plate, I should be fine. My dingy only weighs 200lbs loaded so the weight being distributed is not at the crane's max limit. The deck overhang is at least 2 inches thick and will also be connected to the cockpit floor (two anchor points and a high scheduled grade aluminum standpipe connecting everything together). Most of the model cranes I've seen that will fit my needs are the Brower Systems ECO 600/800 davit cranes, Roskelley RB-2 crane, or the Nautical Structures MC600/800 cranes. Most have a reach of 7-9 ft depending on angle. I really appreciate all the tips/advice this forum gives

That was the biggest marine davit crane I've ever seen! At 25ft long...I'd have no issues clearing my swim platform :lol:

Josh: Call Nick Jackson at (424) 481-1381 We have one of their low profile davits and love it. They also make a pipe davit which is cheaper. I think Bay Pelican just bought one. There're good about phone inquirers.

I would see if you're able to just bolt it to you're deck given it's strong enough, much simpler no stand pipe.

Thanks Larry! Called Nick and got some great ideas/advice. Still keeping my eye open for a used one in good operating shape, but his davit crane definitely fits the bill. It's amazing how much stress a purchase/upgrade can do to a boater. I lose sleep over decisions like this :lol: Thanks again.

That davit crane is ridiculous...very nice. I'm locating the crane at the starboard corner of the overhang, similar to yours, but my deck thickness is only 2 inches and is only held up by 1.5 inch stainless tube brace. My fear is that the extension of the crane (7-9 ft) and the weight of the dingy (200lbs) will create to much stress for it to only be surface mounted. Not sure if I'm overkill or not?

Oh ok. You can never have over kill in that department, it'll come in handy for other uses.

Yes, but I'm on the boat now and with the connection in this marina, it'll take me an hour to upload it. My davit is no where near the reach or capacity you noted above. The reach is only 70".

Thanks Oliver: Add to what you see, a solar panel, an electric hoist and a battery, and you've got a completed project. One other mention is that the mounting location was chosen to access the crane line at the port aft and port side of the boat (I have no swim platform) and while the dinghy is kept on the davits, the crane is tethered to the port davit so it pulls up and in when the outboard is left attached, which takes the extra outboard weight and flex off of the port davit.. After the electric hoist, solar panel and battery installation is completed, I will add another standpipe to the starboard side in the same way.
