    New one to me

That "trend" is called time, and depreciation. The longer you wait to buy, the cheaper machines will be as time is ticking on, and used machines (unless classic cars) don't go up in price. What cost $800k new in 2000 sold for $450k by 02, and $190k by 2013. Old Hatteras's and Rolls Royces, which...

    Whitcraft Cruiser

Yes, they are VERY old, and have quite the narrow beam. Most had (now obsolete) HEAVY engines in them. I've always rather liked their design, but unless the one she's (red flag) looking at has all new pretty much everything- I would just put the car back in drive, and roll onward. Their prices...

    Passagemaking question???

I thought every Frenchman was a sailor. Sure enough of you sailing the world. I would recommend just visiting a local Marina over there and strike up a conversation. France has many local built beautiful yachts, both power and sail.

    New one to me

National Liquidators - 2003 Menorquin 160 Motor Cruiser, 52 ft. - National Liquidators --Never seen one of these before, but sure looks interesting. Look at that beam 16'03". Low profile too. From what I can see via the photos, is seems to be well finished, They always have about 30 more...

is it, or is it not, a trawler

I rest my case! Why is it that when I saw that photo- a quote I'm often saying came to mind? "buy quality you only cry once".

is it, or is it not, a trawler

Did somebody really say "trawlers are cool?" I thought only young women in short skirts decided what was cool in this world. Cigarette boats are deemed cool. I think perhaps it's anything that blows their skirts up, and/or is expensive might be the definition. Slow and practical ain't cool.:hide:

    Great Cruising Video

Louis C.K. Comedy, Sex and The Blue Numbers - Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee by Jerry Seinfeld Louis CK has a Grand Banks, and cruises it up the Hudson with Jerry Seinfield, anchors, and comes back to the dock. Tells a great little story about going aground in the Harlem River. Best boating...

Oh, just some Great Loop daydreaming?

Your in LA (lower Alabama) which is west of LG (lower Georgia) where Jacksonville is. It was 84 here in Miami today. I rode 8 miles at Earhart park, and swatting mosquitoes when I stopped. AC still on. We hear rumors of something called "cool" heading this way.

For Sale: '89 SeaRay Sundancer 28

1989. Sea Ray. Gas engines (Mercruisers with exhaust riser issues since new, and have never been remedied). That's high money for a mint 40'er. The NADA pull's their prices out of their ass. NOT based on any factual sales. They are in the BOOK business, and that's it.

    Brokers recommending surveyors

This subject has been bandied about on several different threads, so thought I would make a new one from my point of view. I'm a broker. When you individuals buy and sell a boat, it's usually just that one time for that one boat, but the way I think about it is "this person is going to want me...

    Insurance Options for older boats

If you MUST have Insurance (which I don't believe in) then LISTEN and take the advice of a Insurance professional! He know's what he's talking about!!! Don't argue- just say "sir, yes sir" and take it as gospel. I'm serious.

    ad blocker

I saw the mention of this free download on another site, where guys were whining about having to see advertisements on free sites (!), and it was suggested to try it. I did. Although I was enjoying seeing the almost naked girl video that ran here sometimes,, all the ads for cars I'm not...

    Financing ?

In all my years (since 1978) as a broker I have never seen a lender finance a boat to anybody who didn't own a home before they bought a boat- UNLESS they purchased CD's from the bank in the amounts way more than they lent. At which point the borrower said "so your going to pay me 4% on my...

    Engine hours?

I just took a look at the Golden Star on YW, and from what I can see, I have to say it looks awfully nice. The fuel tanks appear indeed to be aluminum. It appears that the boat has had extensive renovations done to her which is good. If it looks good-it is good. Rather pricey for today's...

    Financing ?

Find a boat you can afford to pay cash for. Maybe a smaller one does the trick of a larger one? For example a Doral 25'SE has more cockpit seating than a Sea Ray 40', AND has the same sized berth. Many boat designs are just wasted space due to poor design.

    Insurance Options for older boats

DON'T! Put the premium money back into your boat so you don't have any fires, or loss's! Register her in a manner where you can't be financially harmed. Although the individual agents might be good guys, they're just brokers for the big boys who have all the lawyers, and just don't pay if...

    Land Based Homes??

You don't have to buy into the insurance industries trap of buying their products. They push fear, and hold themselves the solution, when they are really the problem. As long as you have no lenders requiring insurance for their protection, your not required by law to have it for your home...

    Land Based Homes??

I did it backwards.. lived aboard a series of yachts and a RV for decades when I was young, then at the same time dockage prices was going through the roof (from $150.00 a month to $800.00 in just 3 years) down here in Miami, I was watching all the construction of high rises going up in the...
