    Rudder Seals on ST44

Good news for you and am glad they are fixed. The local Beneteau dealer advised me that my rudder seals would not be covered under warranty. The boat was bought new Nov. 2012 and I can't find anything to the contrary. Keep in touch!

    Beneteau Swift Trawler 44

I replaced the original transducer with the "stick-on hockey puck" style- with remarkable improvement! The part was only $125 and pretty easy to install. Ps, why do my photos rotate 90 degrees when I post?

    Shore power newbie question

Mine came with 2 30 amp receptacles. Was tripping breaker when running all 4 A/C units so dealer converted to 1 50 amp receptacle. I use this "Smart Y" to connect to the 2 30 amps on the shore power pedestal. I do take all of it with me when traveling. By the way, the dealer put in a CATV...

Does this make me frugal or cheap?

I'd say it makes you smart. Wasting time, space, or assets happens to be an ever increasing pet-peeve of mine. I suppose it come with age.

    Will this Replace Flares?

I remember, and was a buyer via this report from Activecaptain. I carry both the electric flare and traditional flares. Have had some old salts argue that the new type are non-compliant.

Trawler Fest Stuart FL worth while?

When we entered the buying market, in 2012, we attended Trawlerfest Baltimore, and found it very informative. The seminars were very helpful in sorting out the various cruising styles. Also, the Q&A's in the seminars were really interesting. By all means, go!

    Rudder Seals on ST44

Dallas, Were the seals covered under warranty? Also, new issue; I always try to remember to power down my fresh water pump when leaving boat, but on occasion recently, after leaving the switch on, I hear the water pump making a "soft, machine gun type" noise- not the normal water pumping sound...

    Rudder Seals on ST44

Here are photos of my rudder posts / seals, etc... While I see no active leak the scene looks ominous to me. What do you think? I bought this 2012 ST 44 in November of 2012.

    Transducer on ST 44

After years of intermittent readings from the stock 2012 "through-the-hull" transducer, I finally switched over to the Raymarine "hockey puck" type. This one beams directly through the bottom of the boat. Here in SW Florida, where we often cruise in waters less than 25', the original equipment...

Replacing Engine After Only 335 Hours!

The Volvo mechanic said the following regarding break-in: 1) run normally except be sure to vary the rpms every 10-15 minutes 2) change the oil and filter at 50 hours Not much else was said.

Replacing Engine After Only 335 Hours!

The 30 hours of run-time came in 2012 when she was dealer stock. I'm pretty sure that during those hours she was closely supervised by the sales folks, who knew about proper break-in. The engines had a 2 year warranty and we continually updated (in writing) the dealer and local mechanic, both...

    Beneteau Swift Trawler 44

Depth Sounder Are any of you 44's having trouble keeping the depth reading? I am. Maybe it's the 7-12' water around here but I lose it, usually after accelerating or altering plane. I understand the 2017 44's no longer have the through-hull transducer, instead they mount a stick-on black...

Protecting Teak Cap Rails From Sun

Our teak cap rails were finished by the dealer when she was a new stock boat. Since then we've had them refinished twice, and most recently with an Awlgrip 3-part acrylic on top of 12 coats of varnish, and they look great! My question is, is there any type of wax or other protectant that I can...

I'd guess that 90% of the boating public do not know even the most basic horn signals! Even scarier, 50% of these don't use their radios either!
