What do you think is going on here?

Yes there is a slotted grill on the hull. No sure which way it is facing.

What do you think is going on here?

Last year the overheating safety device shut down my generator. After checking a few things, I removed the hose and determined the thru hull valve was plugged. Got out some wire and tried to open it up, then used my shop vac to blow air down thru the valve. Nothing worked so I re-plumbed to a...

Tell us something about you that sounds FAKE

In 1966 while in the Air Force in Arizona my wife and I got married. We lived in a $75.00 a month small apartment off base. It was a real struggle to pay the rent, but my wife found a job as a waitress that paid .25 cents per hour plus tips and we managed OK. After 4 years we moved back to the...

For Sale: NEW Amsteel II anchor line. 3/4" x 225'

I am no expert on rope by any means but all the Amsteel I have floats. Not sure how a floating anchor rode would work out. Maybe it would. I did see a sail boat tonight with a snubber tied to his anchor rope. So it can be done.

    No sleep tonight.

Another interesting wind story told to me by someone who was there. This happened at Shearwater Marina in BC. The dock was full as it usually is and the wind starting blowing on night. It registered over 100 mph. Those docks are not secured in place with piling, they are anchored in place...

    No sleep tonight.

Back in the 80's we stayed one night in Shallow Bay on the north side of Sucia Island. When we went to bed it was dead calm. After dark the wind started blowing out of the south, over the top of Sucia, and right into the bay. I stood watch all night on the bridge of our 26 Tolly we had at the...

For Sale: NEW Amsteel II anchor line. 3/4" x 225'

Sorry to say this but that would make awful anchor line. No give at all. Very strong though.

    No sleep tonight.

Several years ago I was anchored out at Camano Island. Just a small nook in the shore line, fairly deep close to shore. Just before dark a old steel tug of about 40 feet came in and anchored up stream from me. There was a man and a women on board. We were asleep in the v-births when this...

    No sleep tonight.

We had a forecast for 35mph winds starting at 11:00pm. But when it started blowing 50, boats started drifting. The terrine around this bay is fairly low so the wind get's in but there is not much fetch, so not to rough last night. I made my anchor bridle out of three strand nylon which is...

    No sleep tonight.

My Rocna anchor got me thru it. I never had a doubt. One other sailboat drug anchor last night. He left sometime before dawn.

    No sleep tonight.

2:48am: Anchored out in Garrison Bay. Just had a gust of 50. One sailboat drifted by a few hours ago, he motored back up to where he was and re-anchored. Now his lights are getting closer to me. Keeping a close eye on him. Been several years since I've done this.

Tell us something about you that sounds FAKE

I played in a rock and roll band in high school. One night we played back up to a dude from England named Sir Walter Rawlie.(sp?). We also had a battle of the bands one night with Three Dog Night. (Before they were international stars).

All fishing closed in Washington State

I agree. I just never ever thought that something like this could ever happen and how it is effecting random things we have forever taken for granted.

All fishing closed in Washington State

To many people enjoying their forced time off so the state closed all fishing in Washington for now. The only thing open was some Chinook salmon fishing but still... also, BC has put into place the same closures on their fishing that they had last year. So no salmon fishing until you are past...

    2020 San Juans Clog-in ?

Garrison Bay is a national park, not state park. No signs up yet and nothing on the web site says they are closed. ( I guess the restrooms here are closed though)

    2020 San Juans Clog-in ?

It was time to move. Been there for 7 nights. That and I can run to Roche Harbor in the dingy for some milk for my breakfast cereal. I did check online to make sure the park was not closed before coming over. Will the 1/4 distance between us be sufficient??

    2020 San Juans Clog-in ?

Maybe I can clear some of this up. I posted today on another thread that the state park where I am (Prevost Harbor) had posted signs yesterday on the dock that it was open only for day use, no over night moorage, no camping, but you could use the buoys. I did not read about this anywhere on...

Latest news from the San Juan's

We left LaConner last Tuesday. The daffodils were all out but no tulips yet. The town of LaConner is hurting, there are many restaurants and they are all closed. I have my doubts there will a Tulip Fest this year.
