This is the latest news from the San Juan Islands as of 3/24/2020, 9:15 am

The state has closed all of the state parks and the county has closed all the the county parks. Yesterday signs went up on the state dock here at Prevost Harbor. No overnight moorage, day use only, no camping, ok to use the buoys. So you can still take the dingy to shore to walk the dogs or take a hike.

The San Juan county paper reports someone from Orcas Island has the virus. He works for the parks department. There is also a report that the county commissioners want to close all of the transient moorage in the county. Not sure just what that would include. Many of the business's in Friday Harbor are closed, same on Orcas Island.

The ferries are running but are still on the winter schedule because of the low volume of riders.

Only a few boats out and about.

How's it in La Conner? What's happening with the tulip fest? Any colour yet?

We left LaConner last Tuesday. The daffodils were all out but no tulips yet. The town of LaConner is hurting, there are many restaurants and they are all closed. I have my doubts there will a Tulip Fest this year.

... or there may be a far better Tulip Fest this year! No crowds, no blatant commercialization, the tulip bulbs don't know they're in lock-down. As long as we stay in the car or keep our social distances when out of the car, we should be good right?

Things have changed since this afternoon. New signs were posted that say
"Parks and all facilities are closed"

So we went from day use only to closed to everything.
