Does anyone have Victron Cerbo GX sharing data with their Garmin plotter?

I'm assuming you did the enable both*MQTT on*LAN*(SSL)*and*MQTT on*LAN*(Plaintext) settings on the GX device?

Does anyone have Victron Cerbo GX sharing data with their Garmin plotter?

I did look at this at one stage but ended up just using the VRM Online portal instead (displayed on a iPad). For your approach, note that you do need to use an actual Garmin network cable (not a normal ethernet cable) for the connection. No idea why but documented online here...

    Diesel boost pump

After many years and $$$'s spent trying to resolve air leaks in my fuel lines/filters (that would lead to engine RPM issues under way), I eventually ended up installing some 12v Facit solid state pumps as you propose. Have never had a fuel problem since. It probably just resolves the symptom...

    Teleflex Caplilano 250V replacement

I did this upgrade a couple of years ago. While it is an upgraded model, you may still need some plumbing changes for installation. The position of the ports on the 1250 changed slightly (I needed some extra 45 degree elbows to align my existing pipes correctly) and I assume you'll have a...

What temps do your 3208s cruise at?

My 1980 3208NA both run consistently at 180F. I believe that at some point Cat increased the opening temp of their thermostats to open at a higher temp (+10 degrees) as part of improved emision controls.

DC to DC chargers mount location

On a similar setup (but using Enerdrive DC 2 DC charger) I ended up putting the charger closer to house because that was where the house Soc monitor was located. If low, I could then switch to 'priority' mode (similar to Sterlings 'manual' mode) by accessing a switch on the charger. Tedious to...

    Mastervolt vs Victron

Not an expert but I think this is a known issue with Victron Multiplus that is related to a hard coded "rebulk" voltage. Essentially once a full charge cycle is completed, the voltage has to fall to a set level (type dependant) before a new bulk cycle is initiated. In the newer MPPT...

    Two House banks

Further to the charging question, I only tend to join when where off shore/generator power and in this situation the inverter/charger isn't charging the AC bank (because its inverting) and we turn off the phonex charger for the DC bank (because it would not be efficient to go from DC to AC to...

    Two House banks

I normally don't do a serious charge while the two banks are connected (though old school lead acid are pretty tolerant anyway so wouldn't stress to much If some unbalanced charge was occurring). I only tend to join them if the DC bank is a bit low (say <60%) and I need to use the davit to...

    Two House banks

I'll put the countary view. I have a very similar 2 bank set up split to DC and AC loads and really like it. In my case, both banks are currently made from Trojan T105 6v in series/parallel to12v. B1 (DC) is 6 batteries and B2 (AC) is 12 batteries. Each bank is located on opposite sides of...

    Helm seat post size

To your second question, I've been thinking of putting a deck slide in so that the whole chair can move forward/aft to give access to storage cupboards under the helm. One option (not cheap) is something like this...

    #@%$! Garmin

I still like and use Garmin but I'd have to agree with Bruce regarding Garmin AU vs Garmin US. I'm in the process of upgrading from 5012 MFDs to 8412xsd MFDs and also installing a new 24xHd radar. Was looking at the option of using the existing 5012s as dedicated radar displays (hate...

    Prop removal

Got me thinking, and I'll have to check, but I would have assumed that, by design, the thread would be such that in normal operation (forward motion) the forces would always tighten the prop on the shaft. In a standard twin with counter rotation one would be right hand and one left hand...

    Window Glass Repair

I also ended up using the sikaflex 295UV but sikaflex would actually recommend using 296 on mineral glass. 295 is their product for organic glass (plexiglass etc) but is much harder for a DIY application. The 295UV is easier to use and so far seems a good result.

    Window Glass Repair

Your next rabbit hole will be deciding what to use for bonding. Turns out protecting the bond edge from UV is critical and not easily acheved unless the glass has a protective strip (sometimes called a ceramic frit).

    Window Glass Repair

Did this recently on a side window on our 80s era trawler. Either safety (sometimes called tempered) or laminated is Ok but not plate. It is much easier (at least in Oz) to get laminated glass cut and shaped. For safety glass, you need to have the glass cut first and then tempered (most places...

    Flopper stoppers

Brian Sounds like a good design. Hadn't considered the option of bending the pole but that does give you more scope to come forward. I wanted the topping lift attached to the flybridge deck (not pilothouse side) so really couldn't easily come forward of the side door. You may recall on...

    Flopper stoppers

Brian We store them disassembled (essentially the flat disc and all the other parts seperatly) They are very easy to take apart - the center rod is held in place by an R pin, the bottom weight by quick release shackles etc. For deployment we build them supported on a pulley from the flybridge...

    Flopper stoppers

We recently installed the round australian ones (https://www.boatstabilisersaustralia.com/products/) Expensive but very well made. Have used them about 20 times on our trip from Hervey Bay to Townsville and they definitely work well. Hard to quantify but subjectively at least 75% reduction in...

Set up a bridle or lay out more scope?

For the anchor situation, I do use the approach of a loop over the hawse ears and that works very well. For dock lines I like the loop around the dock cleat so have the issue of what to do on the boat. Was wondering if attaching the dock line (typical 3 strand nylon) to a short length of (for...

Set up a bridle or lay out more scope?

I know this thread has moved on a bit from here, but on the subject of a cleat hitch not working very well on a hawse hole with ears each side...is there actually a recommended knot for this situation that holds well and minimises chafing.

Reducing roll while anchored or moored.

That was suggested and would seem to be an easy fix. Not sure I get the physics of it (is the turbulence induced drag really that effective?) but a number of sailors I've spoken to routinely hang one of these from their boom and swear by it. It may be that its real benefit is that if you have...

Reducing roll while anchored or moored.

Haven't personally tried it but using a Seabrake as an ad hoc flopper stopper was recommended to me. Lighter and easier to store than the typical options but I was always a bit sceptical about how fast it would sink on the down cycle. https://boatcrewgear.com/burke-seabrake-drogue/

    Circumnavigation on 52ft Seahorse

Currently for sale in QLD for $545K. https://yachthub.com/list/boats-for-sale/used/power-boats/seahorse-52/235831 Odd that the ad doesn't indicate it has circumnavigated but you can see in one of the photos (manuals) that it's Liberty 2

    Victron MultiPlus Inver/Charger options?

I went with the standard Victron remote controller and have been happy with it. I did also have some battery and AC gauges in place so didn't really need the extra features of the colour monitor
