Water in Fuel took us down - Fuel Polishers

I had exactly the same stuf in my tanks two years ago. The guys from the local company, in the Netherlands, came inside with water under pressure ( Karcher) to clean it. Consider also verify and clean the complete diesel circuit, flexibles and pipes..

Water in Fuel took us down - Fuel Polishers

Sorry for the delay to answer. Here is the link, the technician shows how to clean this small centrifugal separator , considering that you have to clean the machine after use ( but no replacments parts). I have of course no interest with this company and I will soon be able to confirm how does...

Water in Fuel took us down - Fuel Polishers

Hello, I had same issue two years ago with dirty diesel sold by an unfair broker in a Dutch marina. Now, I have new injectors!!! My system aboard : - GFC gulf coast filter as fuel polishing system ( F1) - GFC gulf coast pre filter X 2 ( by pass filters before JD filters) - Racor bypass...

    Centrifuge separator

Thanks for your comment Sunchaser. With my displacment yacht, one heavy duty engine and planning motoring offshore for several days and nights, I prefer 100% security. In french , we say "ceinture et bretelles!". I know that fishermen use it a lot 24h/ day with heavy fuel heated before coming to...

    Centrifuge separator

Thanks for the links. The truth is that it is not always easy to ask to the driver of the truck who deliver the fuel to control before filling. I remember in Malta, a driver gave me a sample to give evidence that fuel was good quality, but everything is possible including fill with 10% of water!

    Centrifuge separator

@Band B, Glad to have a positive report about these machines. I read differents comments on "Passagemaker magazine" about that and difference between spin on centrifuge with filters and real centrifugation. I know it is mostly used on commercial and fishing vessels but they have good reasons.I...

    Centrifuge separator

Hi everybody, I have placed an order this morning to fit a centrifuge separator to make my diesel better. I tried to find infos about these products, not many on the internet. For a small boat, under 65', Alfa Laval MIB 303 and Westfalia OTC 2 look to be a reliable and "affordable" product. The...

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

Message from Richard, this afternoon, 12h56 local time in Europe. He didn't look happy:" How many miles did you do a day? I'm crawling st 133 nm/day (...)". I answered to him it was very good, during my passage I was happy with 120 nm per day considering a rough crossing, with some storms and...

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

Yes!, very good idea. I send him a message. * This system Delorme in reach sounds to work well. Here we do not use it in Europe..Better than SSB with sailmail? About the trip, the worth is when you are in the middle of the way. Day afer day with nothing to see than sea, waves, sun...if the...

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

You are absolutely right. I owned during 12 years this kind of motorsailer built for me in 1990 by Northshore Yachts Yard in South of England ( the first one with a white hull). Fantastic boat, hand made, high quality built. I had a Ford Lehman Sabre and furling sails, long keel, very...

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

All right, I have the same feeling. Very concerned by this experience! I did also some passage from Cap Vert to Barbados but this was on my motorsailer. Now I expect to be back in Caribbean and further discover US waters with my trawler. I sent also a message to Richard in my broken english. I...

    Dauntless Crosses the Atlantic Again

Planning to arrive soon in Canary with my trawler, I am happy to read news about Dauntless At Sea ' adventures and cruise. Very positive attitude, far from romance and marketing from boatbuilders! Sailing from the Netherlands, I know as everybody here on this forum what rough sea can be...

    Abeille Flandres

Thanks at lot!!! I did a passage long time ago with my brave motorsailor Balder IV ( ketch Fisher 37'). Now with 8300 Liters aboard, I should seriously consider this "adventure" with a trawler. I am not completely convinced by my John Deere 6081 AFM M1 heavy duty fitted aboard... But it should...

    Abeille Flandres

Hi, Happy to see you like Abeille Flandres. I saw this vessel when I was sailing to Spain from the Netherlands with my North sea Trawler 57' Balder VIII last summer. Abeille Flandres is incredible, one of the rare boats able to rescue a cargo ship in trouble in this very difficult area of North...
