    Liability Only Insurance

Progressive Insurance. That's what I have and you do it all online. Just to be clear, liability only, no coverage for my boat.

    Insuring a "Totaled" Boat

Try Progressive online. That’s who I have. I would think liability only would be a non-issue.

    AIS Pros & Cons?

I added a transceiver. The extra cost for me wasn't much. I purchased an EM-trak with wifi & bluetooth. I use it on a Samsung tablet with Navionics. Seeing the pros & cons in other comments, the unit I purchased (and I think most if not all EM-trak units) show how to install with a "silent...

    Thoughts on Detroit 4-53N

I have 6v-71 Detroits. From the outside, not any louder than my boat neighbor’s Cummins. Inside, no issues with noise either. Must be exhaust piping and insulation. As for leaks, I get 1 drop from each engine every 3 hours. Different spots though. There is a system you can install to help...

how many of you have liability only insurance

Exactly same for me. Progressive online for liability only. Most to all insurance companies wouldn’t cover my boat due to age. That’s ok though given my needs.

    self-insured anyone?

Progressive insurance (online/website). I have liability only and the boat age, length, and make was all I supplied. Had them for 3 years now.

    Trip line or tie wrap?

I drop a trip line every time I anchor. Never had to need it though. My setup is different: I use a bungee line (Anchormate, Seachoice, etc.) with one end on the anchor trip hole and the other end attached to a buoy. I settled on the 14' stretchable to 50' as that covered all the depths...

    For Sale: Props for Sale

just wanted to confirm the pitch is 20. The reason I'm asking is that I have a 48' MY and my props are 4 blade, 28" dia, 30 pitch, 2" shafts. If yours are 20 then I'm sure they won't work for me. Thanks.

    Fire Suppression

For what it is worth, I did get my boat surveyed about 3 months ago with purchase and had the same fire recommendations. Also had the same issues with insurance requirements before issuing a policy. However, I really only wanted liability coverage and was able to find that with Progressive...

    Stiff throttle levers? Why?

I had a similar problem with the starboard cable when NOT using the synchronizer. It was fine with the synchronizer. What I discovered was a sticky/gooey feel to the shaft that goes into and out of the synchronizer in the engine room. I cleaned the shafts with an alcohol and some "elbow...

    Cobham TracStar

I had the opportunity to do a closer look yesterday. The outside antenna has a coax cable connection. Not sure if that changes anyone's answer. Thanks for the help and input.

    Cobham TracStar

My new to me boat has an older TracStar system. Based on the boat age, I'm guessing ~1990. I've searched all the forums and can't find out anything about it. I would assume that this technology has changed so much that it is of no value? Would appreciate any feedback.
