    Mainship 34T berth dimensions

I put in a 4” foam mattress topper on my 34T, and left an additional 2 “ on the aft sides and bed foot. Both doors are a tad tight to operate at the bed end, but gives my 6 ft frame enough to stretch full out, no extra. Headliner is easy to bump and mess up will low bow clearance, be careful...

shipping company recommendatons from Wisconsin to upstate New York

No direct experience but Cross Country Transport, Hastings, MN, ( suggested once above) has delivered numerous boats to our marina and folks were happy. I recently had the owner, Brad, measure up my Mainship for tentative transport to Lake Superior. Very professional and knowledgeable, his...

Anyone choose the boat over the woman?

We were bikers for 30 years. Followed a dream and aquired a cuddly cabin 8 years ago. Wife yelled initially, but soon came to cherish the adventure and totally replaced the 2 wheeler. Now in a 38 ft. Trawler. Agree with others, important to share dreams in the long term.

    First/Last Yacht need advice

Boating on the upper Mississippi 8 years. Currently at major flood stage, current and associated trash crazy. Prudent and risk adverse folks do not go out during flood stage or when close. Have a single Yanmar six cylinder 370 hp on a 38 ft Trawler. Bow and stern thrusters. Does fine at normal...

    Potable water

We have Mainship 34T, we pack gallon jugs from home well for drinking, use abut gallon per day depending on guests, usually just 2 of us for a couple of days or week. Prefer it to our filtered marina water and other refill Marinas.

    Lower helm station

Having both was a priority in our boat search, great visibility from the lower along with option to converse with passengers not up for the cooler temps on flybridge. We only have a Bimini top so if wet or cool, we get to go below. Nice to have wipers and heat/fan on th windshield in rain. Side...

    Fake Documentation notice

Like Magna6882, the third party service offer came prior to the USCG reminder, so got me moving. Thanks to other similar threads, realized after careful scrutiny, not USCG, and agree with others, they really try to make it look like a government deal, tad low IMHO. FYI, can do online for 1 year...

Accepted offer, Mainship 390. Have questions!

We followed a very similar path with our 2006 34 T, close to home, 250 hours, one owner, fresh water, and jumped on it as very rare in Minnesota. No regrets, had a good surveyor who found some minor mechanical issues which we addressed. Does have one soft spot on flybridge behind aft seat, so...

    River Cruising with Trailer Trawler

Regarding the Minneapolis trip, we have traveled from there down to Dubuque IA. Averaged 50-75 miles per day at 10 mph, taking our time. Lock and dam at 20-30 mile intervals, suggest you get Marine Traffic app to help avoid 2 hour waits if barges going thru. Gutenberg IA has very nice marina and...

    Mainship 34 or 39?

From the viewpoint of a new MS 34 T owner, we looked at both the 39 and 34. Better visibility from the lower helm along with a floor plan and room that fit our own needs made the decision. Got used to bed w/o side tables. Usually just the 2 of us, and I often handle it solo. No issue with ER...

    Large Dogs

Second Portage Bay's input on buying a dog friendly boat. Our recent boat search parameters included stairs to the fly bridge, transom door onto large swim deck, deep walk around sides and no ladders. Yes, restricted options also along with price. Was also for our own aging concern, as plan to...

Can you answer this ? Please help me

Just completed first season with 2006 MS34T, came with a bow thruster, had stern thruster installed. Yes, not a fast boat, purchased accepting that. Pros as mentioned- less maintenance costs, room, economic to operate. With 2 thrusters can walk boat sideways, unless winds over 20 mph or strong...

    Mainship 34 Trawler

In following seas of 3-4 feet our boat got squirrelly to handle at 10 knots. Not sure if reducing trim tabs would help as some therorize wide square beam is the issue. Only on first year of inland waters but otherwise appears very capable per se.

    Looking at Tugs

Had my eyes onRangerTug31CB for over a year. Checked out at the Mimia Boat Show and one for sale in Cape Corral. Was good boarding them with partner and walking/talking through. Strongly recommend as we then ended opting to a larger semi - displacement slower trawler for less money. To each...

Recommendations for a surveyor near Bradenton, FL

We used Captain Cliff Schmidt up here in Minnesota last fall on a Mainship 34 Trawler purchase, were satisfied with him. Has home office in Palmetto Fl, believe close to you. 813-398-9752. Cost was about $1800, but very deep and expert on mechanical and hull. Cliff@S2Marineservices.com

    Good Morning from Southern Illinois

Welcome aboard! Do not have input on the Nimble, but in my recent search for a trawler, we considered Ranger Tug and Sea Dory, models in your range. Ended up larger and not trailerable Mainship 34T for number of reasons/trade offs. Both of above are unique in appearance....Happy Hunting!

    Sureyor in Tampa Area

Just used Cliff Schmidt, senior, up here and n Minnesota on a 2006 Mainship 34T. Got him from another boating friend. Has office in Palmetto FL, flys back and forth. Top notch, very detailed, is certified mechanic, knows his stuff. Not cheap, about $1700, but worth it. S2Marine. Hope helps!

    Trawler River Rat

Jim, Coincidentally, we are getting a rental slip at Miss Croix for 2020, have checked it out before, get pumped out there a lo as cheap, and marina seemed laid back, personable, reasonable cost and easy maneuvering. Will have to try San Pedro. Enjoy Hawaii, we like Kauai immensely, used to go...

    Trawler River Rat

Been cruising the Mississippi for last 15 years between Minneapolis and Iowa border. Yes, locks and dams about 10-15 miles. Would have to say at times and in some areas current is an issue, especially during high water like we had all last summer, not just springtime. Gets challenging pulling...

    Trawler River Rat

Don, many thanks for the welcome. Checked out your site, nicely done- our teak outside decking is needing re-caulk, so found your DIY project helpful. Looking for a manual for the 2006 34T, what year is the 34TH manual you have posted and besides the obvious FB component, assume very close ? I...
