Another new start for Helmsman

Scott arrived at the docks after transiting the big locks single handed in the dark. Right after arriving, he let us know our boat has arrived safely. That says all you need to know about Scott and the Helmsman Trawlers team. We look forward to learning the boat from the people who make and stand behind a quality product.

Congratulations! You will find it was worth the wait.

Thank you very much! We ordered the same color for our Helmsman (in construction, hull #1 of the 38 Sedan) without having seen the color in person. It's so hard to tell what a color actually looks like just from pics on the internet. They all look different!

If your pic is a reasonable depiction of what it actually looks like, we'll also be extremely happy.

Nick, you will be very happy with it. We keep getting compliments on the color. It’s almost embarrassing. Don’t worry about how it looks in the progress photos. The finished product is breathtaking and exactly what we wanted. We also got concerned about the upholstery color not looking right in the photos. Once we got aboard, we placed the swatch from a chair we ordered and the match was perfect. We look forward to seeing photos of your boat.

Pics of the 43e delivered to Deltaville Va. by scott on 2/12/23
Chose the Cummins 550. Hit 16.5 knots with 3 people no water and no swim platform and 400 gallons of diesel. With full water, swim platform attached and 4 people aboard hit 15.5 knots consistently with assistance from trim tabs above 10 knots. They gave us the last knot of speed. Running the same engine at 1000 rpm burns 1 gal / hour.

The first 43E with a single stateroom. Master stateroom has a separate walk-in shower large enough that 2 people could fit to give an example of its size. Then added the “powder room” head to the other side of the stateroom with a recessed washer / dryer combo. The gives the owner an enclosed stateroom with full private bathroom availability.

We have slept on both the 38E and the 43E in the stateroom, pilothouse and saloon. All 3 were comfortable so we do not miss the second stateroom and really like the roomy separate and private bath facilities.

He was referred to me by Zimmerman’s Marine in Norview Marina located in Deltaville, Va.

If you bring your boat here be VERY careful to stay within the marina buoys as it is only about 2-3 feet deep outside them. It is a tight fairway but enough room to move about as long as you respect the markers.

Tell him about my boat, he will remember and is a great guy. Does what he says he will and provides you with his cell phone as a customer. We think he did a great job as our logo was a little more complex than just lettering.

A little update on EmBark. Electronics are complete.
I was poopooing starlink a year ago, but Ive went all out on the installation. It pretty much streams. Will test once we get underway.

Crane installed, Dingy sitting on loose chalks for now. Waiting for canvas guys to return and determine final position.

Name is now in writing. EmBark!

We’re having fun following Tom and Jill’s commissioning. We have borrowed some good layout ideas from their boat. Our electronics installation should start in earnest tomorrow. Eddie and Patrick spent most of Friday protecting all the interior surfaces. We decided to go with the flat mounted StarLink on top of the pilothouse. It looks like the weather this week will be promising for getting the graphics installed. We’re trying to stay out of the way but it’s so hard to stay away after waiting so long.

We’re going with swim step davits for our Highfield RIB. We’re going to hang our pedal kayaks on racks on the aft rail of the boat deck, one set each side. The boat deck is such a beautiful space for relaxing and socializing. It’s also going to be our toy deck for my mountain bike and Patti’s recumbent CatTrike.

After a last minute buying spree, we apparently have everything we need but a Helmsdog.

We're keeping the RIB on the swim step. We went with the 500# Nick Jackson pipe hoist to get our bikes and kayaks up to the boat deck. The Highfield 290 is light enough, we could lift it if we ever decided to carry it up on top. We selected the standard 250 HP engine.

Congratulations on the 38. You won't be disappointed. Every surprise we have had has been a pleasant one. Scott wasn't kidding when he said each boat is better than its predecessor.
