I bought mine from Marine Parts Source. Quite a few vendors sell them and I found that the less priced ones had higher shipping costs. I redid my entire freshwater system and used Marine Parts Source for quite a few items. The ME is a great toilet. I took Comodave's advice and bought the Raritan ME.

Where I got mine does not matter, choose the one you want and search for best price.

There are few things you need to know that affect the price before ordering:

1. Which height do you need? If it will sit on a raised platform you need the short ("standard") version...if not, you need the more expensive tall version.

2. Slant or straight back? If it will sit against a vertical bulkhead, you need the straight back...against the hull, which slants toward the keel,, you need the angled back.

3. It's designed to use pressurized fresh water...if you want to use sea water, you'll need a remote intake pump.

4. There are three flush options: basic push button (simultaneous water in, bowl contents out), slightly more expensive 3 option "momentary flush" (add water to the bowl ahead of use, "dry" flush, and same simultaneous flush as push button) and pricy "Smart Flush" panel that adds a 4th option, "full flush," that uses quite a bit of flush water and has a circuit board (failing circuit boards created enough problems in the refrigerator in my kitchen at home to last me a lifetime! I always recommend the "momentary flush."


Boatersland Boatersland Marine Elegance is my favorite retailer. You may be able to find the ME for a few dollars less, but the boxes in their listing are actually menus that show all the options, and their shipping is reasonable.

We went with Peggie's advice above, the first one two years ago, the second one last year. The price went up about $200 between the two buys. We ordered, tall, straight back, white, smart control, (but not digital), and couldn't be happier! We are full time, so they get regular use. . . .

I opened another thread about bidet seats, and am curious if the the Alpha or Toto bidet seats will fit. Going with 24v, straight back, one tall, one regular.

I used a 24 volt one too, just took power off the bow thruster batteries. Nice thing was being able to run smaller power cablles to the head.

My main voltage system is 48V, so for high amperage ciruits, like the toilet, I run 48v to it but then it has a DC DC converter. Saves some money on wiring, and trying to keep everything the same, so I can easily keep spares.

My bow and stern thrusters are 24V, but have their own batterys and charging circuits.

My thrusters also have their own battery banks and chargers. They are also much closer than the house bank so I just took power off the bow thruster bank. Made it way easier to do the install.

Pushbutton

The control unit went bad on one of mine and I replaced it with two pushbuttons, one for water and one for the grinder/flush. Was able to vary at will for each use and it is more durable.

For those, like me, who have a single push button, I found I can add water without discharge with quick tap on the button, wait for water to stop filling, then repeat. It is like there is a one second delay for the macerator to start. I can fill the bowl as much as needed and then full press to empty.

On our current boat we have the smart flush controller with Bluetooth. I have never had any trouble with the smart flush on all of the ME heads we have had. Not to say we will never have trouble with them but just that they have been very reliable for me.

Before your order them, be SURE to check the heights of them. The standard is VERY low, I had to build some teak platforms for them.
So please double check the heights so your not sitting on a "low boy" doing your business.

Boatersland used to have great prices for Raritan but haven't used them for a while.

Google it and see what comes up.

Great product and I went for the marine Elegance with the Smart Toilet control as well. 1 button push will either flush the load or save water for smaller jobs.

Great products with great support.

If you'd done a little homework (you actually only had to read post #10 in this thread) before buying, you'd have known that the "standard" (short) version is intended to sit on a raised platform, the "tall" version is intended to sit on the head sole...that the angled back is intended to sit against the hull, the straight back to sit against a vertical bulkhead. So I don't have much sympathy for you.

There is also an elongated bowl that is really nice. Makes it like a home toilet. Ours is on a platform but I still got the taller version since we like handicap toilets.

When I rebuilt the platform for one of our heads, I sat on and measured the seat height of a handful of different house toilets (as well as the height of the old head setup) to confirm I was putting things at a comfortable height. I think I ended up with the seat at 16 or 16.5 inches above the floor.

Yup, make it comfortable for you. We happen to like it higher than others may but it works for us.

Platform here too, used standard. Height good with 4-5 inches of platform.

Even if these things look like home toilets, they are smaller seat wise.
