Diesel engine under salt water long enough for barnacles runs again

Those interested in engines, I happened to catch this on ebay. Vietnamese guy salvaged this engine, disassembled and made run again. He reused everything but the bearings. The injector pump wasn't disassembled, nor was the turbo. He even restored the starter.
I don't know how long the engine will run, but it does now.

Clearly it was either a Volvo or a Detroit Diesel.

A Volvo would explain why no new parts were used as they were unavailable the year after it was made.

The case for it being a Detroit would be no external corrosion from all the oil it leaked all over it self.

Amazing.

The more I work on restoring my project boat, the more I realise how much I enjoy my "hobby" of restoring old and broken things. This guys engine restoration takes things to a whole new level .

I've seen other videos where, what seems like, absolute miracles have been accomplished with VERY simple tools (hammers, open fires etc.). Usually Asian in origin. Mind boggling.
