Do I need to pull my boat out of the water to change my exhaust tubing?

Yes, I agree. He displayed an incredible amount of energy and persistence in order to achieve his vision, despite the odds being severely stacked against him. He also put us all through good practice about how to best guide (and hopefully not discourage) a complete beginner. His threads will be useful references for more beginners in the future.
 
1) I would replace the entire length. Don’t scrimp on this.
2) I’m sure the job can be done quickly but you never know. What could go wrong? Go wrong, go wrong, go wrong.....
