More 8D questions...So I have 4 new 8Ds on Gulfstar 49. On my sailboat I configured charge to house thence to start with a Digital Duo. Bulletproof Balmar system.

I would like a similar system for the new boat. However...its current configuration is 1 8d for each Cat and 2 8Ds for house. Would rewire but the suitably heavy, neatly routed wires from the batts are effectively rooted. I do have a 1 house on/off/all and port/starboard engine on/off/all battery switches. Separate start batteries? Not a lot of real estate for that. Rewire batt switches?

Maybe I am overthinking this as my biggest drain on the hook/mooring would be the fridge, microwave and the usual lights.

As always thanks in advance.

"Rewire batt switches?"

Changing and rewiring ONLY if there is no field cut off installed , so if someone switches the batt off on an operating alt. you wont loose the alt. diodes.

Preventive maint. is far easier than repairs.#14 wire is cheap.

If you run the charging sources directly to the house bank, that isn’t an issue. I think it was Rod (CMS or Mainesail) that said that a battery selector switch should determine what battery is being drawn from, not what battery is going to be charged.
