Hales Bar is not a bad marina. It is haunted though:) Has a palce to eat and probably a good lay over. Last one really until Chattanooga. Lot of rain up river and they cant let it out as no where to go, too much downs stream It may be a few days.
.

I was looking at island cove it looked to be a real nice place. But that is above the lock So now I'm looking for a second choice. I need to go to Demopolis to get my truck and to Pittsburgh for a get together on Sunday if I can..so that's why I thought maybe hales bar. I've been reading active captain and the reviews aren't good. I'd like to start paying a monthly rate.. Like a hundred a week instead of 50 a nite.

50 a nite sounds reasonable to me for transient. I will only stay at floating docks because of the access.

We are paying $76 a nite here in Stuart with twin 30 amps.

Island cove is nice and people like it They had a hurricane blow through last year and a lot of people moved to my marina. We are the first marina after the Chicamauga lock. VERY protected. I pay about $480 per month covered slip and in my opinion well worth it, Its a very well maintained marina with a first class service dept. I will PM you my cell if you need info or for when you get up here. LOTS of crap on the river so keep a look out.

To go back to the lock today the Wilson lock was 137ft high. These are pictures I took off the bow and the stern. Goin up

Well I've had this happen to me before. Where ya start ta lose it and your puttin it in gear and trying ta get back on the wall. But it was when we would throw rope up on top and they loop it around. Fence post. These floating ballards are easy very easy.

That guy had his stern thrusters going an still couldn't keep it in. Cause he isn't have it tied in the middle

And you always want to be on the end either front or back. Most fill from the middle so that's where the turbulence is. Unless like some they fill using the doors like by opening the door to let fill or drain. Then you want middle. They are very helpful If ya tell um your new they'll tell where ta go. No really ...

I stopped t joe wheeler park. I made my reservations for the fall. What a beautiful place.

I'm cruising at 1800 Rpms and normally I'd be doing 8 or 9 kts I'm doing 6.5. I feel like I just ripped my pocket and the money spilling out, blowing in the wind and I can't catch it. :(

I don't know if in you can get a feel for the flow. But if ya look around the pillars you can see it and the logs in there to. But there's still the beauty of bein out here with my coffee cruising along

Pops forgot the pictures guess I'm wrapped up in the beauty or gettin old.

I just called guntersville lock and they say they're still open. There spilling twice they're normal rate tho. There goes my fuel rate

The Gorge is where you will see the current that the TN River is really capable of! Depth drops to over 100 feet and the water will be fast coming at you.

Pot, Pan, and Skillet lights were named for the rapids that were drowned by the impoundment. The last big turn before coming out of the gorge was called the suck because of the whirlpool and rapid there. Steam boats had to be pulled by horses through there. Plenty deep now.

The barges are still working.
