I have just updated from a large single lead bank that did everything, to a Lifepo4 house with a dedicated group 31 lead start battery for each engine.

I have a ton of solar and don't move the boat much, so for now I am not concerned about routing alternator current to the house.

But should there be a negative connection between the house and starter batteries, so the house has a ground path to the engine?

Yes, all DC negatives should be common.
Is there specific start and end points that I should make the connection between house and start batts or engines?

I have a battery monitor shunt that all 12v negatives for house, solar, inverter route to. The starting batteries negatives route to the engines.

Thanks

You should connect the starter negatives after the house shunt, ie so that the shunt is not bypassed.
