Hendo's Randall 35 Cray Boat complete rebuild, Perth, Western Australia

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
One step forward... three steps back. Something you seem to rarely ever encounter. What do you think went wrong with that material; to have it turn so bad, and so quick? Bleed from the cover on it... maybe due to condensation?? Much better luck next time with covering you install!!

That is odd. Wish I had an explanation for you.

I’m leaning towards the die in the glue bleeding through mate. This was the only section I’ve done with the red glue. Everything else was a yellow colour and it has been fine.

Yeh no idea either but I’m thinking it’s the die in the glue

I agree. I didn't know you had used a different adhesive in that area until you mentioned it above. :thumb:

howdie... few questions...again... is all of the outside covered in fairing? are the spots where the fiberglass is flat enough? or do you have to use fairing?
your fairing looks so smooth even before sanding..

Hi mate. So to break it down the layers are as follows

1.) Plywood
2.) Epoxy resin
3.) Fibreglass cloth
4.) Thickened epoxy fairing filler
5.) Jotafair epoxy filler
6.) 3M fine Platinum Plus filler
7.) Epoxy resin barrier coat
8.) Jotun HB primer

Aaaaand a crap load of sanding

All of the external surfaces received this treatment to some extent.

Give me a call on my mobile later on in the week and I’ll talk you through it.

Gday all.
Ive been a bit quiet on here the past week but lots has been happening in the background. I have a surprise for you guys and all will be revealed on Tuesday (Perth time).

In the meantime, I was looking at the toilet system.

I have come up with 4 possible options.

Option 1 has less seacocks meaning less holes but it’s all connected as one system.

Option 2 is a standalone system but means I need to buy an additional pump and have twice as many seacocks and holes in the hull.

Option 3 has a standalone toilet system and a standalone deckwash system pump sharing between the front and rear deckwash hose connections meaning I just need to install one more seacock.

My choice is option 3.

From experience what would you guys choose and why? Is one way better than the other?

For me it would be option 3 for sure.
Option 1 does not make sense to me as your deck wash pump would be linked to your toilet.
Option 2, I do not see the need for 2 different deck wash pump.

Thanks mate. Appreciate your input. Yes correct, in option 1 the deckwash and the toilet share the same pressure pump with the inclusion of a shutoff valve on the toilet intake. That’s how the toilet supplier said to run it. I wasn’t too keen so decided to come up with some different options.

I just spit coffee all over my laptop,,,,,,wtf is going on! She is moving, SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!

YEA BABY! Now as he can see the water, almost home.

Awww you placed her so she can see the water, you are so much carrying about her feelings!!! :)

L

Things to Do.
Finish painting the bottom, let it dry.
Put her in the water and see how she floats and where to put the boot top. Add an inch so she will float nice when loaded.
Take her out, hose her off and let her dry.
Paint the bottom and boot top, let her dry.
Put her into the water and is traditional, pronounce her "almost finished."
Then, take her for a ride. Dont forget your wife. After all, she put up with you working on the boat!!

WOW - WAY TOOOO COOL!!!

Congrats to get to this point!
