In terms of going through Hakai, hazards, etc?
Yeah, and is the area open, is it ok to visit? Anything to watch out for ?

It would be really helpful, if you could paint a broader picture, starting with when and what you are hoping to accomplish.
That said, why would you want to enter Hakai Pass?
What do you mean is the area open and ok to visit?
Do you mean the Hakai Institute or the area around Calvert/Hecate Islands or Fitz Hugh Sound in general.
Are you travelling by boat from Terrace?
If not, from where?
Soin2la is following this thread and he knows this area better than most of us, I'd say. But I can give you a couple observations. Hakai connects the ocean above Calvert Island with the relatively protected Fitzhugh Sound. Hakai means 'Big' or Big Passage in the native language. There is a lot of current and a persistent SW swell rolling in from the ocean, at least when I pass it going up or down in Fitzhugh. Hakai is wide and deep with rocks and small islets on the sides; there are no mid-channels obstructions. The salmon fishing is good and there are good anchorages in the area. Douglass's book, 'Exploring Northern BC" explains this area in detail.
