Craziness. I googled "Sir Winston casino boat" and found a pic. They are just as odd as I thought from the video.

The Cape Ross was posted in this thread a few years ago now, but did you catch that she has a wood-fired hot tub on on the stern deck? :thumb:

Will need to borrow that idea

How do they keep the wood burning underwater? I wonder if it is the same way Spongebob and Patrick keep theirs' going...

Creosote saturated wood with mini mermaids blowing oxygen filled bubbles at the flame's fuel!!

That's how you get warm bubbles on a boat hot tub... silly!

:D

In case of heavy weather, everyone in the engine room for ballast??

Very typical system for a wood fired tub, not just on boats. It’s called a snorkel stove...or, “Scuba” is a trademark style of a snorkel stove. The short version of it is, the air intake and top loading stove door are above water while the burning chamber is below to transfer heat to the water. I doubt you can use it while underway with any amount of sea-induced motion, not unless you drain the water level a bit to preclude any water sloshing into the top of the chamber.

So Sir Winston is a boat name, not a builder?

As far as I know, "all the "sir Winstons" were built for a customer who put them in dinner service and put the latest one up for sale and had another being built. They are always advertised in the yellow sheets.....Not sure who the actual builder is.

Just think about the living space, just amazing!
Enough space to have an hydroponic greenhouse, a tennis court and maybe cows, chicken etc.
This is the perfect boat to save one from the pandemic!

Forest Service Boat

Saw this old gal anchored in the harbor in Craig Ak. some years ago.
Not many left like her. Pressed my camera to the handrail and got it at max telephoto.

Strangest vessel I've ever seen...

There are states where laws are more lax for things done on boats than on land. Casinos in LA and riverboat gambling in general come to mind.... hence this sort of stuff. ALL it has to do is float and occasionally relocate on a flat weather day with a reasonable chance of not capsizing. Often they are tied up with permanent utilities and don't go anywhere.

Lotsa water stains on those interior teak walls...

We spent a few nights in Port Madison WA in August. This boat is anchored way back in the bay. On the outside it looks worse than the photos, but I was surprised at the interior shots. Could be a rotten-wall nightmare or could be a diamond in the (real) rough. I wonder how a prospective buyer would get it to a yard/lift for a survey. The rest of the interior looked amazingly clean. I wonder how it smells. At $25k-$30k with a decent survey this could be a good deal if restoration could be kept under $60k-$70k.

I keep passing this boat in Norfolk, VA going back and forth to FL. Totally unnecessary for the cruising I do, but I want it. :nonono:

seems pricey for a gasser. Engine room looks like its unmaintained. I didn't realize these boats had v gears.
I agree and I knew they came with gassers but I thought they were all straight inboards. I thought it was interesting. Not worth it to me but maybe somebody.

58' William Garden 1952

The contract is inked, we go to hull and mechanical survey next week. I've had two life long boat professionals check it out, and they assure me it's as good as it looks. Has had amazing care/upgrades. I'll keep you posted.

I thought the same thing when I passed it.

Congratulations! She's a beaut!

I passed this odd looking craft at the east end of the C&D canal the other day.
